Is the surf bigger in winter than in summer?

I gont know anything about surf riding. Only been in salt water once with my ski. Was wondering if the surf is bigger in the winter or is it the same year round?

It's usually the biggest in Aug-Sep around here... I don't think it maters for Vegas...

Large Surf is the direct result of a storm somewhere. Although occasionally summer hurricanes deliver some big surf there is more storm activity in the winter so yes winter usually has larger and more consistant surf.

Thanks for the info fellas! Yeah Benny, planning on Pismo soon. Was gonna plan for right after the holidays but Supercross A-1 and an APBA race in Havasu both are right after New Years.
