He did start it in the water, and also sank it from sitting on it too long and having the scupper float open. He was explaining a bunch of stuff to us and watching us for too long. Someone towed him in and he had to do the same as the rest of us do, get the water out of the carbs, tank, and cyls.
Yep, no water box, those are raves, and it does have a chamber, but it is up in front of the fuel tank for balance. Not sonic balance, just ski balance. He spends alot of time getting his hulls balanced sitting in the water and has the hull trued. He claimed that it makes a difference for him competing. Kinda makes sense, I guess. I think the old manifold is an old SJ FP type 8? With a custom make manifold adapter, to his cylinder and polaris case. I think.
