If you could change one thing about the REV footholds....

What would it be...

List any changes you would like to see in the REV foothold. If there is a common issue I am going to modify mine before they are installed.

This goes for any footholds: sand the padding where your foot will be in the hold. This helps to keep your foot tight in the hold. On my last holds my foot was higher in the hold than in the tray, causing my feet to fly out when upside down sometimes. Not fun. When I turf them this time I will take a lot more time and get them perfect.

I'd change just about everything about them. After using the XFT holds, I never liked going back to the REV holds and I didn't even like the XFT's that much. In my experience, the REV's would grind the skin off your ankle, had a sharp edge that digs into the top of your foot no matter how much padding you add, and really didn't allow you to kick in or lock into the hold.

I agree with the ankle part. I used to have a scar by the end of the summer on both my legs. Best investment I found is Neoprene socks, have not had a problem since but also have been riding surf stance quite a bit more.

Yeah I use to use dive booties but they got torn up in a single season. That extra $50 every year in booties could be better spent IMO. I've tried riding surf stance quite a few times and every time I do, I remember why I don't...I always bash my knee on the pole.

And don't forget the exhaust tube clearance issue with REVs. Major PITA. I did a lot of glasswork to mine, and they are ok now. I'd never buy them again, though.

I do think it's funny... 2-3 years ago there was a thread where tons of people who spoke up to praise the REVs and now so many people can't stand them. Granted, at the time WDK had deals to sell them for $50 a set and at that price, it's hard to pass them up when you've never tried anything else.

I love my REVs... they are perfect for how I ride...

TOM21 has really nice footholds. If i was to get a new ones I would buy his. They are the best I have seen based upon the quality I saw when I installed a set for someone... very big and easy to work w/

I love the REVs too. I modified mine so they are open behind your foot (making the back of the tray very wide) and then shaped the top of the foothold to curve over my foot rather than just be flat and create a pressure point. I where size 12s and they fit way better than any other hold I have tried. I wouldn't hesitate to put them in my next ski. That said I have never tried XFT holds and really like the way they look and they might be my next.

make custom enclosures out of padding and turf instead of using the glass ones, overpad everything and they are the bomb
