I started turfing my 550 today and have discovered that I can not get ALL of it to stay stuck. I apply the conatact cement to both surfaces, let it tack up, then go to stick it down only to develop HUGE bubbles that wont stay stuck.... and forget about turfing the rails. I dont see THAT happening with out pop riveting it down. it just peels right off as soon as I walk away from it.:banghead:

so tell me oh turf gods....whats the secret?

It has to be something your doing to get that result. Was the surface areas sanded and cleaned witha cleaning agent to get rid of oil and such?

both sides...two layers each...let get almost dry and stick....then beat with rubber mallet...any part you miss?

15 minutes between coats on both surfaces.
3 coats each.
Wait about 20-25 minutes after the final coat.
After it's all stuck down, hit it all over with a rubber mallet.
Then, don't ride it for a minimum of 24 hours.

sanded with 60 grit, then cleaned with acetone.

I just dont understand, whats going on.

u cleaned it before u sanded right?

cuz if not u may have probs ............... sanding first can and will actually drive any surface oils and waxes into the tiny grooves u create when sanding
