I bought my wife our first X-2 about a week or so ago.:arms:
It was needing some rewiring from the previous owner that smoked all of the wires. (I'll show pics of those later) Tom21 and I were inpressed that the damn thing even started given it's condition of wiring.

As I was leaving Toms shop on Wednesday evening, I was pulling my cart out of his shop and the ski slipped off of the cart and nose planted itself on the concrete. Yeah...... The previous owners body body/nose work really showed its ugly head... Needless to say, I located another hull in Ft. Myers and some other parts just to transplant everything over.

So here are some quick pics of what we have so far... Oh yeah, this is project 1 of 2.. As we are building an SN superjet surf boat also....

I will try to keep upto date progress pics coming in as my progress continues..

Was it on craklist or in the paper ?

How are you liking that Snap-on torque wrench I sold you last year??

Ohh yeah, I was going to take the guys other X2 hull also, but as you could see from my pics, my longbed was enough filled to the hilt... And he has one more with a title... JUST HULL though. I got al of the extra pumps and parts..

I do have 750 cores also Mike.....

Cattledog, Pm me when you get over this way and we will hook up, I'll show a great ride spot over here.

That torque wrench is a life saver and just got a real work out. I rebuilt the motor and trans in my car and this thing did it all.
Thank you for selling it to me.

Now let me have the guys info so I can go pick up that remaining hull and join the X2 fraternity.

maybe after some mods. even a mild 750 in a stock hull was a chore to turn. Get some of toms custom tubbies on there. I bet that'll make it a funner ride.

By mild 750... he means a 750 with a restictive exhaust pipe, a waterbox with too much water in it to have any bottom end, retarded electronics, carbs so rich the ski shouldn't have been running and stock steering.

A tuned stock 750 in a stock X2 hull is plenty to have a good time. My 750 is all messed up hitting like a stock 650 and I have a great time and can handle the ski just fine, that is, as long as the engine is dry enough to be in the water running. grrr

Just get it in the water and then decide what 'needs' to be done. You'll probably find that your first modification will be to improve the 'throw' in the steering (stock steering is probably why Tim had so much trouble turning). I'd agree with Deamon about the tubbies. They will be a HUGE improvement if you plan on riding surf, w/o them the wave throws the back of the ski over the nose. I can't wait to try out Tom's new tubbies!

Yep yep yep.. Ideas are already rolling once I mentioned something to Shorty about a larger motor.. :thinkerg: She was like "OKAY!" And tubbies3 will be going on once they are ready.. :poke:

Here are some quick shots of this afternoons progress.. I blasted the bottom black. I am waiting for it to dry some more before I shoot some clear on it...
Ohh yeah, the waveness and bumps, are from the PO body waork.. No way in hell am I gonna do any smoothing for a boat that will get ridden like a $2 whore.
And the primer grey is where my canvas started.

I'll post more as the day continues. :bigok:

more pics

Okay--I have the painting finished.. And it dried nice and quick.

Now I am trying to figure out how to place my wifes logo on the front (SHORTY). Take a look at the assorted pics and lets hear some opinions.

Ohh yeah, look at the kool bar grips, someone took sometime to wrap them in rope. A nice custom design at the bar ends.. No, they will not be staying. :smokin:
