hydro-turf hood seal

I have heard good things about the Watcon polaris octane hood seal. You have to cut it to length but many guys are using it and so far so good.

And its only like $30 as well. I bought one, but riding season isn't for another month.

Tried a Hydro-turf one a long time ago. They are crap like mentioned. Your lucky to even get a short summer out of them.
I use OEM, but want to try the Watcon one on my Fx-1.

Not to thread jack but Hydro Turf actually makes a hood seal or are we talking about using Turf as a seal? Ive seen it used as a seal when its cut to fit and always wondered how that work....

Hey guys, it would help a lot if I could get some constructive feed back on the hood seal ISSUE. We are happy to improve those but we have not received any complaints, THAT HAVE GOTTEN BACK TO ME ANYWAYS.
Is is to soft, too thin, too short...etc.

Hi Mike,

The big thick HT hood seal material is to mushy and looses its memory after a couple months. Then they start to dry out and crack after one summer.
Thats my experience with one on my old square nose SJ. But hey they are only what? 15-20 bucks.. Dont know the current price..

You guys need to find some better material for sure.. I know you have had that stuff for sale forever from way back in the 440/550 old skool hay days!

Yeah, I used a hydroturf hood seal on my SN and it didn't even last me a season. When I first installed it the hood sealed very well. Not more than 6 months later the seal was squished flat and my hood and hood latch rattled and didn't seal at all. The main problem with the hydroturf seal is the fact that it isn't dense enough.... I guess the air pockets in the foam eventually deflate and the seal goes flat.

In a pinch I cut some long strips of the neoprene (3/4" thick) padding #.0 sells. It is holding up like a champ.

too thin. i think they have to be a closed cell foam? to hold up

something with a recess would be grate. One of the problems with the JSS Type seal is that the hood can actually move side to side. You can look at my 24/7 hood hooks and see where the hood was moving and grinding into the hooks.
