As most of you know I am testing the new Hydro Turf Underpadding.
Well, I rode my ski for the first time in the surf this weekend and I totally love it!!!!!!! It is sooooo comfy and soft on big landings... I was very happy w/ the way it felt and looks onthe ski... I had a few people ride my boat and comment on how nice it was.... It will be perfect for anyone who doesn't want to go through what our buddies Joe (sicki) and J/ Parr (P-Diddy) are still going through... I had some nice flat landing too and no stress at all.....

I will give it a A++++ for comfort and ease of installation and will let ya know how it holds up to the beating I plan on giving it...

No he will not!
Oh yeah, I rode Slutty's ski for a while and I was super impressed at how good the thick padding felt. I was afraid that it might make the mats a little slick feeling by being too soft, BUT NO WAY! I have a set to put on my boat but haven't had the time yet............that will be my next move before I ride again.:notworthy: HT has remedied a big problem before it got out of hand. Hi fives all around!

What did you use before? Like a 1/4" of underpad?

I know for sure it makes a big difference even going from mat (no underpad) to mat/thin underpad. So that 1" underpad must be really sweet.

How does the 1" underpad affect your foothold positioning?

I think the standard underpad is 1/4"... if so, next time I'm going to try 2 layers of it. I think 1" would be huge overkill for me (flatwater). Plus I don't think my feet would fit in the holds with with that much padding.

You just leave the thick stuff under your heels and the rest of the tray. You have a lowered "footprint" where the front half of your foot falls down into.

You wont even notice it though because the thick stuff squishes down so nicely. I think it would be great for flatwater also.

Damn this sheet is big. It almost seems to thick. Nick, do you have any pics when you installed the underpad?

Its only been dry land tested by me, but I'm loving mine so far too! I don't have a lot of room in my holds, but I'm usually barefoot in flatwater anyways so I'm not worried. My only problem was i found it hard to install, that adhesive backing wanted to stick to everything as compared to 3M you have somewhat better odds of only stickin it to the tray. As far as install pics, I don't have a lot. Kinda ugly, but looks pretty good once I had the turf on it.

How much are foam mats?

Call Laurel at HT... for the 25mm I paid like $15 for a piece that was cut to length, and about 8" wider than my tray. This way I could cut out for the footholds any way I wanted. I wound up cutting around the foothold area and using 8mm padding to keep the foot space.

brraap....thats so 2002
she accidently sent me a couple of sheets for an sxr, and i had to cut one down a bit to fit on the square, but i think it works great. i tappered it down were it goes into the foot holds and angled it down on the back edge.

i installed mine last night, I'll take some pics later. The stuff is great but not to sure about the foothold padding. The stuff actually sands down pretty easily, so I did some transitioning from the thick stuff to the thin stuff and i think it came out pretty good. I would just hate to not be able to get my feet in the holds, but i think its gonna work out
