Hurricane Gustav ski ride

Just wanted to brag some about this weekends ride @ Crystal Beach.
Sat, so so surf. We saw about a 8' manta ray swimming around.
Sun, surf was better. The penguin even gave a few hotties a ride on his couch.
MONDAY, MONDAY, MONDAY!! Surf was kickin A$$. Good 8' waves, some lil larger and smaller. Depends on how far you went out.
IT WAS AWESOME!!!
Even our newest Texan, Moondance went out in the surf Monday.
Riders were myself, Penguin, Moondance, Nelsonlt1, h20racer and KawiKelly.

I ended up doing a pancake and broke my limiting rope, pulled both of my hood straps out of the front mounting bracket and cut one of my pole bushings. The pole cut the bushing in half on one side.
Pappa Penguin made me a new limiting rope, thanks dude.
Moonie made lunch consisting of ham-n-turkey-n-cheese sandwhiches, thanks dude.

SKINNYMAN, you should of came down.
The surf was clean with a good 100' between most of the waves.

I had the helmet cam and will try to post video tonight.
Pics will be posted too.

what a fantastic day riding. I wish that Gustav would have hit earlier in the weekend. After 2 full days of riding, I started the day beat. I would have had ton more fun if I had been fresh.

Not to mention the cost of FUEL for 3 days of riding.

I found I nice yellowish-green one about the size of a fist on the top of my leg today. Should be nice and purple in a couple days.

my feet have several raw spots from rubbing on my shoes.

and I'd do it all over again tomorrow.

Just wait about the bruise. The "little" one on my thigh now goes all the way across & has a knot under it about the size of small orange & a gash about a inch across. I swear they just come out of no where. Damn proud of them though...lol

Sounds like the day the prodigal Texan:crutches: and I went to Hershey Beach 3 years ago during huricane Dennis.

Here is two parts of one of the videos from my helmet camera.
This was shot after I had went out to the big waves and ended up doing a pancake and breaking my hood straps and limiting rope and a pole bushing.
So all of this video was shot on the smaller waves, simply because going way out wasnt not justified at this time on my ski.
THIS VIDEO DOES NOT DO JUSTICE TO THE SIZE OF THE WAVES that were rolling in. You pretty much had to be there to see how angry the wave gods were. They were so pi$$ed they ate my beach stand, yea it got sucked out and we never found it.

it was waaaay cleaner outside. But Mick broke a bunch of stuff early - so he wasn't on the outside stuff too much.

I should have taken his helmet to get some footage out there.

The waves way out were huge. It was fun hitting them when they were in a roller. It was awesome to be so close to such a huge wave to watch it break. To hit one on a SJ would take some big eggs.

I was thinking while I was out there that these waves are like a piece of machinery in motion. If you dont watch out they will Phuck you up, and they dont care.

The Penguin and I both had bow loops and wore our tow lines around our waist and always let the other know when it was time to take a break.
Luckly we didnt need the tow lines.
