Hooker impeller question??

I was reading about the new hooker impeller and was wondering how the hooker 9/15 would compare to my 13/15 solas concord cutback 3mm as far as bottom hit goes. Has anybody ran both of these that can tell me.

I have the concord 13/15 cutback from impros too. Anyone think this hooker 9/15 would beat it? I have a 760 right now but might be jumping up to a 845 soon.

I have ran a 13/16 3mm cut back and am now running a 9/15 hooker. In my honest opinion the hooker didn't get that much more bottom end, but hookup and especially white water hookup were greatly improved.

one other thing to keep note of, is if you are not happy with the way the prop is, Dave will re-modify it for you, at least with me it was mentioned, however i never had to take him up on that offer.

his customer service skills are awesome, as is his attention to workmanship too

I have not tried the Hooker impeller, but I went from a cut-back Concord to a Skat Freeride Swirl a couple of years ago.
The difference was noticeable even for me. The Concord lacks immediate off-bottom hit. It takes a half a second to spool up and grab, whereas the Swirl bit right away.

I guess I am not telling you what improvement the Hooker will bring, but I am letting you know that the Concord can definitively be improved upon.

I agree both concords I got were a sec to spool for low end hit,a buddys swirl hit right off,Both hookers I had were gaped...lol go figure.
They were poorly made and had way to much clearance on a brand new wear ring both brand new. Impros wanted 80 bucks to reweld the outside for a better fit even though U got both from them.................weak.

I've read results saying that the hooker is hooks up better than the concord, provides instant acceleration over the concords lag, and provides better bottom end. Some people claim all, some only claim one or two but the fact remains that I've never seen a post from someone saying they switched back to their concord after using the hooker and that has to count for something...

I've ridden a ski with the concord and it feels like the ski has carb problems... I've got a hooker in my SJ (still breaking in the motor) and a swirl in my 750. Both props have instant hook up and zero lag. Worth every penny to me!

I'm runnin a 5 mil Lamey and I have tried 13/16 Solas -3, 12/17 swirl -5, and now have a Hooker 9/15 -7 and I LOVE THE HOOKER.-NOTE-I ride 99.9999999999%flat fresh water. The only way my hooker will be sold is if someone gives me a mag pump.

Gil, a 12/17 Swirl is probably too low a pitch for your motor.

I run a 13/17 on my simple stock stroke bigbore.

I haven't bought a prop in years and am needing one now. I ride 100% surf and the only mods on my 701 SJ is a b pipe and taper bored carbs. So what do you guys recommend?

Um, are you sure your wear ring section was not warn out some?

Repitching impellers changes the clearance between blades and liner. The right way to re pitch includes welding and resizing if needed and impros does this . Also on a worn out setup , it is more likely that the gap is caused by blade wear and not liner.

Yes,Im sure the wear ring was brand new ,so was the prop,As legdragger mentioned even the other guys in the group that bought them noticed when their old prop was removed they had far tighter tolerances than the new concord 13/15 -3 In the same used wear ring. Impros is not rewelding the outsides for a proper fit. Every swirl we have got has been perfect tight tolerance out of the box killer hookup,no need for cutbacks waste of money.
