I have a 90 x2 with 650 and oem carb and remote fuel pump.
Only changes per fp was 1/8+ turn high speed screw setting.

My issue is that the ski will run fine and dandy after she is primed 2-3 pumps. It runs fine and all but when you either stop it for a break of lets say 2 min it will not start. Just keep tryying to turn over. The only way to start it was to prime it. It ran fine and all just a pain having to prime it.
Also the ski died after idealing for a bit thats prob cause its too low this part i can fix.

Any help!!

I'd bet the low speed screw needs a little adjustment. Probably won't take much but may richen up the low screw a 1/8 of a turn as well and see what happens.

I've had the same problems with stock carbs and it usually has something to do with the mixture being too lean. Just my experience though...

I would say that you might have a leak in your fuel lines...check to make sure your fuel systems hold air pressure...just blow into your gas tanks one way. Gas tank pressure pumps fuel to the carb...

hmmm tried a lot of stuff

took apart the fuel pump cleaned and put back
took apart the carb down to the jets the small one seemed a lil clogged unclogged inspected the filter in it and clean up a lil varnish and put it back in.

adj the high speed to 1 turn out
adj the low speed to 1 turn out.

still only starts if i prime it, and it wont even keep going seems like once it eats the gas then it dies.

could it be the reeds.
its not the fuel pump -took off the line off the pump and it shot fuel out the other end.

now what!!

check that your primer is not sucking in air ,like scott said check all connections, i would get ride of that 28mm carb and fuel pump , i had a problem just like your symptons on my x2 it was the crank seals, open up cover and see if you have any oil resdue in flywheel cover

after you get ski started after priming you can pinch or plug primer lines and see if ski starts again if you are sucking in air thru your primer you will have problems, 44mm mikuni would require diferent intake manifold, i use a 42 mm race kehein carb the blue one with a opened up stock intake manifold, there are lots of guys that have spare manifolds and carbs on here and pwc today make a wtb post should not cost you much

i am d/l the manual.
i have noticed that the darn b pipe chamber is putting a hole on the side of the ski. i will have to take the pipe out and dent it again.....i have already dented and hit it so many times.
any other better methods other than stick it on a block of wood and the rubber mallett

Stick some turf to the side of the hull that should help with the rubbing, but it shouldnt rub that much

a 1990 is the same size post in the x2 section here you want to buy a 38mm kehein carb you will have to dremmel the intake if you want max performance but you can just bolt it on if you want to see if your problem is fixed i bet you can find one for under 50 dollars , the 1991 x2 came with the 38 mm carb the 1986 thru 1990 came with the 28mm and external fuel pump like yours

i am getting a 38mm carb soon.
i havent looked at the reeds should i even bother would this be the issue.
also relocated the primer to the fuel selector. i like to live dangerously with no reserve. clean setup though.
