Matt has had tons of problems with his waterlines clogging. This has been going on for 3 years. It clogs at the Factory Pipe manifold. If he puts in a Seastrainer, before the strainer or it clogs at the 90 on the pump. How do you stop this from happening. His is the only Superjet that has this consistant problem.

DJ,
What's it clogging with? Doesn't Matt ride mostly fresh water? Zebra mussels maybe? The lake I ride on is loaded with weeds and algae, but I only had one instance of a clog from filimantous(sp) algae, and I was able to blow it out pretty easily.

It has been multiple issues it seems that almost made me sell everything (again. lol.)

Clogged 90 (really bad) on the main in on the bottom of the manifold.

Clogged 90 (really bad) on the 90 off of the pump.

I mean these were bad! The one I discovered on the mani a couple of days ago was 2 thin flat rocks wedged in to "reeds" on my 90 on the manifold. It was there all along on Kells motor and I could'nt see it until I swapped motors.

The one on the pump (discovered 5 minutes ago) was a 3/8" flat round rock (!$!@%$%!#$!%$!%@#$%##%%!%%%!#%!#%#%#!) turned slightly side ways in the 90 off of my pump. I had to f'ing beat it out with a pick and a hammer (!^#@$%#$@^!%$^$#^%$^!%&^!*^#&$^!$#^!).

AHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The one in the pump is new so it was throwing me way off because I thought I unclogged this god forsaken piece of man made #!$#@$%!$$@##!$!%%!$@!#

Well now it should flow like no other. I'm going to the f'ing ramps $#!#%!$##@!$%^!$^%$!^%$^$^#%#@!#^!

The technical term for your clogging is "Human Error"
The motor needs to be turned off before you hit the beach :banghead:

You need to start it in water that is more than "anckle deep" :banghead:

Sorry Matt, I know you are a charger, but unfortunately, you are to blame on this one!!! :noevil:

See ya at Rager, I'll help you drown your worries :beerchug:

It was Kelly too though just for the record:biggrin:

I swapped her motor into my ski with an existing problem that started with her learning how to beach this summer. I think at that point I added a major clog in my pump 90 to a major clog in her mani 90 and BAM. 2 bad f'ing clogs that would blow out (barely) but then get clogged right away again as soon as the slightest molecule of sand tried to pass my newly formed 3/8" inline "reed rocks" $%!%#$%^!$#%!#%!$^

Oh well live and learn. :banghead: :beerchug: :439: :439:

He gets a lot of crushed zebra mussels and little rocks jammed in there. Matt, put that sea strainer back in and for gods sakes, strap a piece of 12 guage solid wire in your hull somewhere.

clogging

I think this was a problem on my boys boat today. Runs fine when cool and both pissers are blowing out. But then runs rough and pipe chamber ONLY gets sizling hot. It this what yours did? He did suck up some rocks at one point taking off shore but ran fine for 15 mins. after that.

Here's a thought....

Stupid as it might be......just throwing it out there....place a screen or just something that would reduce the size of the object allowed into the intake to be smaller than the smallest diameter in the system...hell a couple of stick pins could do the job allowing for more flow, but not as easy to clog as a screen.......sounds like some rotten luck to me...

That 45 degree elbows might make a good difference... That and a sea strainer.... I wonder how you could put a screen on the inside of your pump??????

on ebay a while ago... there was this strainer thing that was really neat.

it had an inline strainer. then another water line came in from 90 degrees of the strainer and had water flowing accross the strainer to clear out all the contaminants. only part i didn't get was how it didn't prevent water just leaving from the cross.

i think it sold for like 50 bucks too.

Looks like we just became an engineering team....lol

for inside the pump....i would go with an insert that would hold a x pattern screen which would at the very least reduce the size of debris allowed in by 75% and if the screen sat flush to the pump wall you would further decrease the potential of a clog right at the screen.......I guess it could be done two ways a plastic bushing type insert, or have a groove at the inlet and use a circlip style screen.....not that I'm an engineer (cause I'm not) but just an idea......

this is a thought i have had as well but my fear is that it will then clog with other smaller debris and more frequently as well ( putting something in the pump inlet)

now that you got the rocks out matt you should be golden. i wouldn't worry much any more
just like paul says kill that motor a bit earlier coming into shore you'll be ok now

you guys should try a 144 mm gp800 cooling picup, its awsome ! that section of the gp800 pump will bolt into your pump , i got that one on my blaster along with a sea strainer works perfect for me and i always beach the b-1!:arms:

This has been going on for 3 years...there has to be more to it than that.
