I can't believe that you guys ar getting away with not paying duty! Thats wicked! Its a Japanese developed product, which makes it subject to Duty if the vehicle is under 15 years old.
You can however buy a 90/91 squarenose without paying duty.
My next ski will come from the states too. Our dollar goes a lot further down there.
Like jetx mentioned, even after all the bull******** at the border with extra charges and such its still better..
1) You have access to many more boats,
2) often boats that don't have to endure our winter sitting outside
3) Aftermarket mods are cheaper and more plentiful in the USA (better chance of getting a ski with nice upgrades)
Even if you spend $4500 when its all said and done for a decent roundnose, that $4500 gets you a better boats with more mods, or a better paintjob/better port job whatever it may be, for the same amount of coin.
Its not uncommon to have a 96/97 Superjet bone stock go for $4000+, and tha sad part is we only have so many to choose from, so someone will pay the $4000....
Sickning...
