Why would you want to buy from Canada. The better deals are usually in the U.S.I bought my first tand up ski from Mi.,second new hamshire and third from havasewer.
If the U.S. customs are as fu.... up as the Canadian do what I do call them three times to find out what is needed before you go and then if two agree go with that.
One problem I ran into was if there is a lien on it customs won,t let you bring it in

If you call them three different times youll get three different answers. None of them can give you a straight answer, because none of them know. There is a definite communication problem in that aspect at Customs. I called more than three times, customs told me I didnt need to anything besides go to secretary of state to get a title, sec. of state said I needed to import it and fill out the forms, then customs said that sec. of state was wrong, but if I needed to do it to satisfy them, then I would have to do it. Then they said since that was the case then I had a vehicle that was illegally imported. I asked him how I could import it then and he said I would have to be coming into the country and say I need to import it.
So I left the country with the ski, came back in, and all was fine from there.
Its really not a big deal in the end, especially if anyone knew what to tell me in the first place.
All you have to do is tell the guy at the booth that you are making a PERSONAL importation, and he will direct you to the side.
They fill out the forms for you, no fees, no searching, or anything. Five minutes there and you are out the door and can go to sec. of state to register the ski, really no big deal. If you find a good deal and it's in Canada, by all means, go for it. Its not going to cost you anything extra to bring it into this country besides the michigan tax that is on ALL vehicles and watercraft when you register them. Thats why you say you got it for cheap. Just tell them you payed 100 dollars for it with a blown motor, then you wont have to kill yourself on taxes every year. That tax is standard on everything though in MI, it doesnt matter if you bring something in from out of the country or not.

the reason for canada is because i cant find on anywhere in michigan

Thats totally acceptable, if you find a better deal in Canada, I say go for it.
But before you go for ANYTHING, no matter where it is, make sure its a ski you are going to be happy with, and not throwing more money into when you could save a little longer and buy a ski thats worth it.

I forgot!
i don't think you'll find many superjets in canada because from what i know superjets aren't sold in canada so any that are here have been imported from the states. also skis are worth more here because of that, even 550's go for more than 1000.00 bucks still.

well, my parents told me i couldnt get a ski till i bring my grades up.... took me a long time to bring them up..... i finally brought them up and my sister was in the hospital.. i told my dad i brought my grades up and he said we'll go look at it when she gets out of the hospital.. and he sold it before she got out.

yeah don't think your goign to find much up here...we are already all over any of the good deals anyways, and frankly they are far and few in between.

Skis fetch a pretty penny up here since they are hard to come buy...I sold a

94 SN with 701, b pipe, ADA head, footholds, etc for $3000.
99 SJ freshly built up for freestyle with a rebuilt motor but messed up electronics for $4750
99 Full limted race boat for $4500 (probably could have gotten more for it too)

Next time I am in the market for a SJ I am definately brigning one in from the states. Even with the taxes and stuff it is well worth it.

By the way what is your budget??

Freestylegeeks got a sweet SN posted in the FS section for $2000

I agree with JetX. I have bought 4 Seapoo's, a 750SX and my Superjet all in the states. I am now searching for a freestyle round nose and have been checking the US classifieds again. All Canadian ski's have a registration. It will have the owners information, the ski information and the regi number that is on the side of the hull. However saying this, you do not require the registration to register the ski, you will however need a bill of sale.

Good luck and like JETX said: LEAVE OUR SKIS ALONE!! LOL

Well to bring an SJ into Canada we have to pay...

There are a million more standups in the USA than Canada. Try finding a clean roundnose for under $4500 CAD. And thats for like a 96/97' :(

There is literally no market for them here compared to the USA.

As far as Ontario titles goes I don't have one. We switched all of our boating related registrations over to "Services Canada". The lady there told me there was no titles anymore just licenses (which is my boats registration number).

If your boat matches the registration number and the boats serial number, and your name on the same piece of paper as 'owner" than its as good as a title. Yet! it clearly says on it "NOT A TITLE DOCUMENT".

Confused? I know. And thats why you shouldn't buy one from Canada ;)

Any piece of paper that shows that you baught the ski will do when you import it into the States. All you have to do is show it to customs, and they will fill out the paperwork. That paperwork is required, because in Michigan you HAVE to have a title to register the ski, and that paper work is your only ticket to getting a title. It has to be a MIchigan title to register the ski here, thats how it works.

Yeah, I just bought my 00 super jet this summer. I imported it from the US, and just had to pay tax (14%) on the canadian amount. There was no duty or $209????
