My blowsion one the bungee fell appart in like 3 days and the plastic thing on the rope pulled out getting towed in. I have a round pole on a square so I had to loop it around the pole so basicaly all mine is is a rope with loops on the ends. The bloswion hood straps break too get a pair of those spring loaded tie down straps, eyelets and and eylet punch and make your own. They hold up well considdering they are galvenized and not ss.

I've used a Blowsion one for over three years and its fine. A little worn by the hood latch loop that's it.
Regarding tow ropes: My group of friends put tow ropes in the fire extinguisher holder (shhh..yes we run with out them). The tow ropes we use are made of the tie down nylon straps but have a carabineer loop near but not AT the end. They don't scratch the ski. I'll look for the link from the place in VA that makes 'em. I never use a rope designed to keep a pole from over extending to tow...even if it was made strong enough it too short...ever ride for 3 miles offshore 2 feet behind a ski? It sucks! 25ft minimum.

Ever been behind a ski pulling you through the breakers w/25ft?
so does the bungee pull the rope all the way to the bracket, when the pole is down?
It pulls it pretty far when the pole is down. This would be bad on a springed pole so just run the bungee a little longer.

Of course not...we use the buddy rescue technique. We all have large rope loops on the nose. If you have to get a ski out of large surf (with or without the rider) you lay in the tray of yours and stick your foot through the nose looped rope of the other ski and you tow it out. You never have to remove your hands from the handle bars. You and your one leg are part of the tow line. It’s faster that screwing around with clips/ knots and other $hit in big waves. I was referring to after that fact when you are out of the breakers to use a long tow rope. In the San Diego area you can’t normally launch at beaches so you launch at Harbors or Bays then head out to the ocean. Its a long ride back. Since most stand-ups submarine with short ropes we found 25 ft keeps it from sinking and you from getting pelted in the face from the towing ski. It actually allows you to stand up on the towed ski as well. Keep in mind also you can always shorten a rope (double loop it so it’s 12ft) but you can never lengthen the rope. <grin> This is what we found better than messing with limiting ropes when standups are supporting standups with no couches around to save your @$$

I will make my own next time. I bought one from Blowsion but I was not impressed. The shrink wrapping around one of the ends came loose the hook that attaches to the bottom of the pole broke. For $50 i think it was a ripoff.

why do you need one did something happen?

:cool2: Well lets just say I would have been buying Charles a new handlepole if he didn't have a limiting strap.

I'm sure you heard about it. A failed nose stab attempt actually straighted a stainless steel eye screw. Without that strap the handlepole definitely would have snapped.

Charles' boat is just outright violent. I'm still trying to get used to that thing.

it would be hard to pay for that pole:bigeyes: i have a limted rope for the same reason and i havent even picked up my ski yet.

I snapped a pole off and built a strap out of some cheap stuff that I had laying around and a piece of rope around the hood latch then I snapped the rope and the pole the 2nd time. This time I built it to take some abuse. I have to have things symetrical so I used 3/16 steel cable to build a loop on the dash and then used a horse bridal as a strap. It wsa rated at 250#. I don't think it would hold it but that is what it said. I have abused it on pourpose and havn't broken anythgin in 3 years.
