don't use a blowsion limiting rope to tow a ski.....the carabiner just can't take that kind of stress. And the carabiner has been known to break under normal use as well.

i made one for my square that kingnothing bought at lanier. it consisted of a rope that was tied the the fire extinguisher catch and to a 90* piece of SS that was bolted to the steering stop nut under the pole and had a hole in it to run the rope though.

it also had a bungee that was tied to the middle of the rope. i left one hook on the bungee and drilled a small hole near the pivot hole on the pole for the hook to go into.

it worked flawlessly for years and im sure hes still using it.

go to Ace and get the quality SS carabiners, then hit a boating supply store for the rope. Use it for your tow rope as well..

Well.....me of course.

Are you kidding? We use limiting ropes to tow people all the time in cases when we don't have a proper tow rope. My limiting rope does a great job actually.....you just have to have carabiners that are worth a damn.

I just have a tow strap that I wrap around my life vest. I really haven't rode in the surf much with you guys so I dont know these "tricks" you all have.

That seems like a pretty good idea though. Most of the handlepole limiting straps look like they can't handle it, but I guess thats why you make your own.

And no I wasn't kidding.

Speak up ,don't kiss azz
Don't attach it to your hood latch though .:frown: if your latch comes loose or breaks you lose your hood and your boat .
Secure it with fender washers through your hull and that way if it breaks out of your hull you still have your hood and boat.
Attaching it through your hood latch is not smart IMO
