Handle pole bushings, need resistance

I'm running a Stock pole and bushings on a lowered Billet bracket with a handle pole spring. I usuallly keep the polt pretty tight for a stiffer pole (insert sexual pun here). Even when I crank down on the bolt, the pole moves pretty easily. Any suggestions about what I can put between the bushings and bracket for a little resistance?

BTW: I like my setup and don't want to go to the 2 bolt system.

i do the same thing with my AC pole and lowered bracket. I installed new bushings, and wedged a SS washer between the bushing and the bracket then cranked the bolt... much tighter that way.

Mcmaster carr has a bunch of stainless steel shims in various sizes both std and metric.

The bushings are newer. I ran a washer in there with my old bushings and it worked pretty good, but there is no room for a washer now.
I was thinking of sanding the bushing with a rough grit paper but they have pretty low resistance and I don't think that would help.

its the billet bracket thats not allowing you to get it as tight as you would like.if you switch to a stainless wamiltons style bracket your problems will be solved

No, It's not the bracket. When my old bushings were worn out I became limited by the bracket because the "ears" would not bend in far enough to touch the bushings. I was running 2 washers in between the bracket and pole bushings.
With the new bushings. the bracket is snug just sliding on. My issue seems to be that the bushings do not offer enough resistance.

What is the opposite of grease? I need glue on the bushings!

How about getting some waterproof sandpaper, cutting it into little 'washers' and gluing them to your bushings?(or use the waterproof sandpaper with adhesive backing):scratchchin:

you need a spacer in the pole to prevent it from crushing.then you can crank down.

just throw some sand in there and you'll be all set. hell you don't even need to leave the beach for that.

have you tried a dual bolt setup? I was able to get one to react like you are talkin. But i switched back to solid pole and spring.

The more you tighten the bolt the more your pole will crush inward. You need a 14mm stainless threaded shaft with nuts and washers on the inside and outside of the pole/bracket. The only downfall is that the threads will slowly wear the bushings a little.
