Hand pole bolt tightening, loose or tight?

Stock pole + stock bracket, what do i need to tighten it up? Just crank on teh bolt/nut? Or do I need to add washers somewhere?

replace the single bolt w/ two bolts w/ locking hardware (double nutted)
Then, tighten to desired stiffness

I used shoulder bolts and nylocks from McMaster Carr in mine and it worked quite well although I didn't care for the tight pole.

I just went there last night and picked up everything, I used standard hardware because they didnt have big enough metric.

yeah.. 5/8" or 3/4" can't remmeber... think it was 5/8"

I run mine tightened up enough to where I don't feel the full weight, but it still will move free. I just want it a little floaty..

That's exactly the way that I'm running mine now, but with a spring. It actually stays where I put it, but the spring makes it feel lighter.

The stock bolts are 14mm. 9/16" will work too. I just got two stainless bolts from Lowe's, and tried it this past summer. Took some getting use to, but I like it better without the spring. I don't plan to go back to a spring.

If you run two bolts so that you put less stress on your bracket in tightening, you cant run a spring.

you could also run a spacer on a stock pole ....

so are you guys getting rid of the spring when you tighten the bolt?

i still have my spring on mine, but tightened up enough to keep the pole where i put it. using an X-metal bracket, and a single breather tube (pool hose). makes for a tight fit for the breather, leaving the spring in place, but it works well... that way my pole is not so tight that it's a biotch to move, but tight enough to stay where i put it.

XMW bolts will not work with stock bracket i dont think. They wouldnt work with my old UMI bracket(regular not lowered)

im talking about the bolts they have mentioned from lowes or home depot...nothing special just a 2 bolt setup rather than the washers and stock setup

Ok, this was a PITA but I finally got the stainless tube machined, lasered out the washers and bolted on. If it lasts and works the way I want it to it will be awesome! It works prefect and should not loosen up at all.
