Nothing too dramatic but a complete PITA though. Was checking over my ski in prep for some weekend riding and found this little surprise hiding down low.

Had my plug wires backwards and got a real nice, ear ringing backfire...not just once. I was smart enough to try and start it multiple times before I swapped plug wires back. I love chapping my own arse.

Ski actually ran pretty good immediately afterwards since I didn't notice the seal right away. I had a hard tail-end landing after a jump. I managed to rip the scupper flapper loose and shove it into the scupper tube. So, I got to shore quickly since I was taking on water fast. Ski acted a little funny but restarted and I blew it out on the trailer. I'm real surprised it didn't run away on trailer. Hope to do a quick case split and replace seals tomorrow.

you sure it was the wires? the coil in the superjet has a single pulse line in, it doesnt know the front cylinder form the back.

OEM seals? I don't see the little fingers that are on the outer seal.

Not my engine build...But it will be today. I hear u on the engine seals and the tabs sticking out on the outside seal.
I had 3 massive backfires and engine has run fine until then with the hard landing. I'm almost certain it had to be the backfires. I was afraid I had split my waterbox it was so loud...and I was outside when it happened.

Do u boys pack a bunch of grease between the inner and outer PTO seals or just grease the lips where they contact the crank shaft? Ill be putting Hondabond on the outer lips of all 3 seals and marine grease on the inside edges.

Most have ingested some water unless that was the most powerful backfire known to man and skis. Now my seal replacement turned into a full engine rebuild.

WOW ! that's a pisser . Yours or Miss Mcdogs . last time I rode your ski the chan was running nice on her motor. On the bright side it gives you an excuse to explore a new motor options during the off season.

Fixed it for you dog ..... You mean 8 mil whammy ..... get it .... back fire ..... whammy . I spec mrs. mcdog would be powerfully angry ifn it wuz hers.

Yeah Idok, I was thinking the same thing till I couldn't get the crank to seat back on the pins. I kept searching for answers and looked down the jugs and found that little surprise. Gonna replace the crank, hone the cylinders, new top end, new oem seals (thx maniac) and new gaskets. Basically a complete rebuild top to bottom. It's gonna hurt a bit...
