Pulliing a mold off a PJS race plate, these were nice and flat with the hull and no hole. They are about 1.5 inches longer than the stock hull and can be cut down and/or Dcut, availiable soon.

Yeah I really liked that plate too. I should have kept it. Oh well, Crab is making me a fiberglass one! DIBS!

How thick? I was wondering if I should toss some more layers on mine before I try using it. I have 8 layers of Chop.

I'm thinking at least 3/8 inch, and I hate that chop, probably start with some thin cloth then build with a layer of biax and finish with multiple layers.

rough mold left, the PJS plate is about 1/2 inch lower in the back than the stock plate.

bought a pair of skegs for rideplate for 5 dollars from john zigler when i had parts being shipped, their pretty cool nice and thick about 1/2 inch height, they screw on from underneath rideplate. i have a rend corp. rideplate with skegs on blaster and it works great.if it doesnt work good i can remove them its a pjs like yours .a lot of the old school companies used skegged rideplates. going to try this next month in fla.

I bought an X2 with homemade skegs on the rideplate. They were about 1" deep. The dang ski wouldn't even turn. It just wanted to go straight.

Why a glass rideplate? What are the advantages, any besides weight?
The flat shape of the PJS with no hole is great, but I'm not cutting up a rare aluminum piece that would be hard to replace, the glass ones are easily replaced, just make another. They will probably weigh in around the same, I'm making them thick and strong.

First one is almost done, will offer them up for sale after sea trials to make sure they are strong enough, the mounting holes look like the weak spot to me. $100 shipped stateside.

I'm just a simpleton, wet layup. FYI, they eat up about a quart of resin to get them this thick with multi layers of fabric, but now I want to add some more glass at the mounting points. Next time I will add during layup, as I know now where to build it up. 4 layers on the sides, 5 on the bottom. First was some probably 4oz cloth, then 2 layers 17oz biax, then some roving that has chop on one side, then one final layer of roving down the middle. I kind of used the last of what I had here, other than a box of scraps.
