Bought a new set of girdle bolts from ADA (ADA head on Lamey stroker +6). My old ones always get crappy, and I have a hard time chasing the threads with my 10x1.25 taps.
Studs aren't really long enough. I can't bottom them in the case or I barely have threads on the head-side (so I had to back them out of the case about 2 turns to get the acorn nuts to get purchase)
Realized tonight that ADA isn't providing metric fasteners (my old nuts were a 14mm drive, and these new ones are just a shade loose with a 15mm wrench). Turns out they are 3/8" and the pitch, as I recall, is 20.
Was thinking about buying new studs or bolts but 10x1.25 is VERY uncommon (can't get it in stainless of any decent length from McMaster-Carr and several other places). The 3/8 by 20 is also very hard to find. ADA must substitute it since they can't find the metric (and the 3/8-20 is really close, my thread pitch gauge for 1.25 seemed a perfect fit until I looked REAL close...)
Anyway, who knows where I can get longer studs or bolts?
Would one of the other style kits (you bolt the cylinder to the case and those bolts are threaded to accept the girlde bolts) work (like the RIva style?) Most posts I've been able to find say ADA is better than the Riva style, but it seems the RIva would make it easier to get longer bolts... Riva site doesn't give any details about the girdle H/W...
