Gashed head...Seven staples & concussion

I was riding the wife's ski around to check out the steering mod and lifters that I put in. Went for a nose stab, the pole came up, and I slammed my head somewhere on the bars. I was gonna ride around some more after that, but I could feel the wind in the gash, so I decided it was time to put it up. After I got back I didn't feel right, so I got Autumn to help me put the cover on and lock up the boathouse. That's when things got kinda scary...I started to black out...I nearly blacked out twice before I could make it up the hill and into the house. I had to lay down on the sidewalk for a few minutes each time to stay awake. Time for the ER and six hours of waiting...and waiting....and waiting. They scanned my brain, stapled me back together, and told me to stay outta the lake :censored:.

Riding skis w/o limiting ropes sucks and I'm wearing my helmet from now on.

Doc said 7-10 days till I can get back in the water.

:dead1:

On top of that, to make matters worse. We were supposed to be hosting a big ride today and we had to call everyone last night and tell 'em that the ride was a no-go. Screwed up everybody's plans...Sorry y'all.:eek:uch:

I'm thankful that I didn't pass out in the water too! Surprisingly, it didn't bleed very much at all. That's why I kept riding for a minute cause I put my hand up there and there wasn't any blood on my glove at first. After a minute or two there was just a little bit, so I was like damn I gotta put it up.

was thinking about getting a helmet for if and when i start doing tricks. i dont feel that a full helmet is required for just cruising around on my 750 sx but i am starting to at least consider one of those half helmets.

anyways, glad to see that your ok.

Aw, man, where's the before pics? Those are the best, where we can see your exposed skull and everything!

Makes a good case for those helmets, ehh?

Glad your OK.

I'm getting back on the ski this Friday...I don't care what the doc said. I'm gonna try to take the staples out myself. I have this tool at work that I think will take 'em out.

I'm moved by DASA power!
I have taken out a whole bunch of staples from my arm before

get your wife to get 2 pr of needlenose pliers, grab each end of the staple, and roll the ends toward the center. I am pretty good at minor surgery. they come out easy, at least the doc was cool and put staples in, trying to find stitches in the hairline isnt much fun.

That's the idea of a skin staple remover, but that has a fat enough jaw it may not work very well. If you want to run up to DFW, I'd take them out for you when the time comes.

That is gonna feel just spectacular. nothing quite like the feeling of staples pulling out of your skin.

My tool worked! I got 3 of the staples out by myself and it didn't hurt one bit. The other 4 are too far towards the back for me to do, so wifey is gonna get 'em out on Friday. She kinda got pissed at me for taking some out already, but they were itching like crazy.
