Nick, I'm def not gonna argue with you either...we are addressing apples and oranges now...and that is one SWEET looking pic for sure! I had no idea until last month that I was so close to Maverick's in Cali while in Pismo and never made the trip (kicking myself).

Also, for the record, I recently told Idok I actually like him (ha ha) in a pm... he's just scared of me sadly! I wasn't lying to him either of course.

Wolfe... my sincere apologies...I'm super bad with names/faces, and it really isn't fair to the few females on this site...for you guys have it much easier remember us for said reason. I look forward to seeing you again then, and I'm sorry.



The way I see it...every spot is good for its own thing...just depends on what you are in the mood for. There isn't one spot I don't like. It still would be nice to get locals in one spot more frequently (many out of staters wish to travel in for such "local" meets as well)...always hard to call when praying for surf!

Don't waste your time going to Mavericks unless you check the surf report, cause it takes a pretty big swell before it will even break.

Good to know on Mavericks Nick, but I SURE DO wanna see that (plus some black beach up that way with huge redwoods fronting it...sounds mystical)! Madsci - I am usually in San Diego for the most parts of my trips to Cali, so Pismo is much closer, and I'm a bit of a gypsy like traveler...so it's all good.

I prob forgot something up there, lol, but oh well! :beerchug:


EDIT: oh yeah, I recognize that phone (LOL, no I don't, ha ha) I AM SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't win waves ,you share them and make the most of them.
You can let your wave riding do the talking and give them there space.If you flip and roll every wave and then the tow guys watch the remainder of the wave as it rolls in un-ridden and go wtf .This where the hopping and agro riding starts.

fyi - Blacks Beach is in San Diego. There are cliffs and so on..

2. south straddy island in GC AUS has some nice surf (Pete, Butch, where you guys at? lol)...and people paddle hella far to get to it...

3. mavericks is scary...flat out...big, cold, and mean...

I know where "Blacks Beach" is dingy, lol! I didn't say "Blacks", I said "a black beach"...the sand is black!! :439:

EDIT: It is way north of Pismo I do know, north of Big Sur...Northern Cal actually I believe. I have the general area bookmarked on my laptop, but still haven't narrowed down the spot. You walk directly from the redwood forest onto the black sand (I'm guessing volcanic...idk what else would do it, but I don't know if there are any volcanoes over there either). AND double edit lol... why don't you google that one for me to, cuz I would like to know!


Yeah Ride...those guys out there were pretty cool to me even when I did edge into their space accidentally my first time.

Is that really it you think??? I thought it would be pitch black. Was so excited when you fired the pic up, I've barely looked at it! As far as I got in my search was some Redwood Park up north. Off to look at again!
