FX1 & RN handle pole differences explained

Well I talked to a couple people recently about the aluminum top bracket on a FX1 vs a RN. The base bracket is the same and the handle pole itself is the same, except for length. The RN top bracket is 2 1/4 in longer than the FX1 bracket. I'm gonna be running a RN steering cable and top section on my FX1.

If you look where the "U" clip holds the cable on the bracket, the distance on the FX is shorter. Basically my reason for switching is this: When running an aftermarket turn plate, when the ball joint is put a "quicker" outer setting on the plate, the angle of the cable on the FX is greater because of the shorter distance. This causes the cable to bind on the FX.

Didn't know if this should be posted in another section, driveline?Tec?
Move it if necessary.

No Square..No Round..FX-1
LBE, I ran into the same problems when changing to a RN steering cable for the FX. Unable to quickly locate a SN upper mounting arrangement, I scabbed together (using parts from a 650 sitdown) a upper cable mount. Looks crude but works great....so far. :cheer:

Looking at the top pictures the chin pad will cover the bars more so it can be chopped down and the aluminum part has to be lighter than the RN upper.

So if I was running a stock pole and wanted it shortned I would be after a FX-1 pole. Lighter, shorter, and all you have to do is modify the cable mount. Which you can't see when the chin pad is on there.

A FX-1 pole on a RN sounds like a good idea to me...

Well the reason I'm changing it is because the shorter FX1 piece binds. I guess you could relocate the clip, but why? I don't think the piece is lighter, and if so, not noticably lighter. I also think it would be more difficult to find an FX pole piece. You may want to re-think that.
