Flat water back flips..

Who's attempting them of your own wake and with what sort of kit? - lightweight hulls, 760's, Lamey strokers etc..

Is it possible with a stock SJ hull, cut back ride plate, wammer trim system, 753cc, 13/15, cart tank, full spectrums 48's etc?

What's the view on the danger rating of trying them? - Is it really gonna sting when your only getting 1/2 to 3/4 way round/landing upside down? - does it rip you out of the lifters?!!

i can imagine it hurts alot less than in the surf

No experience here, but what I hear is a helmet + hood straps and you should be good. Like I said, I've never tried, but an underroated back flip seems like one of the less painful landings honestly. I've seen some stress cracks in fiberglass, but how many people have really injured them selves attempting this?

Ive been riding/reading 3 years, but honestly I just got my set-up wake down, so I cant say for sure.

Ill be trying them soon. R&D dominator Flat top 785cc, vilder ignition, ill be putting in a TBM pump cone and 12 17 prop. running stock dual 44s. I tried them at the end of the 2006 season with my 701 engine and got a little past half way. i need to be really pumped up to do them....

A buddy is doing them and riding away....stock stroke lamey, stock dual 44s and msd total loss. he does have an fully modified xft boat, but at the end of last season i am pretty sure he could almost get them all the way on his oem hull.

They are pretty dangerous. if you only get half way the pole tends to slam right down on your thigh, if you get 3/4 you tend to get the pole in your lip. we wear full face helmets and there were times when he cut his mouth up pretty bad. he shoul dhave gotten stiches but didnt.

Never tried on flat water, but I doubt it would hurt much. I have come up short in the surf from 15 feet up and it doesn't really hurt. Wear a helmet of course.

The thing is, on flat we are trying to rotate really fast so the velocity will often break nosepieces in half. For surf, you get WAY higher, but the rotation is much slower...so they both have their drawbacks as far as injuries. I watch the guy I ride do it, and when he doesn’t make it all the way you can almost feel the pain yourself, it’s pretty hardcore. Hence the reason only 10 or so people in the whole world can do one clean....

Probally takes more skill then power.... but when you try post some vidoe!:arms:

Oh it s a power move for sure. Takes skill but lightweight or power only improves your chances. With a stock stroke lamey and msd TL I think I could get close on that 75lbs X-jet hull. That one guy from Brasil riding a 60lb XFT hull and a ported 760 motor was touching the nose on flatwater attempts.

I wasn't really thinking about flat water at all cuz I didn't think it could be done on a stock hull/WDK Diablo/d-cut/13-16/limited.

Could I be wrong? Can it be done?

I guess it depends on rider. I bet you a lighter guy with enough strength and 750 ish cc, trim, etc, would be able to backflip.

I don't really know how hard it is though. I've never tried one.

5mm lamey, TBM w/ 13/15 and Blowsion trim system.

He just got the blowsion trim at the World Finals, he was doing them on a system that is even cheaper than the CATS system.......... just a stock nozzle with a bracket, cable, lever and some grinding......... Parr was doing flairs and back flips. The newer trim setups will make them much easier though......
