Factory Pipe ECWI?

ECWI works very well, but the MSD is NOT the one to use. Most people use the Jetworks/Micro Touch versions. The typical MSD comes on too late to be of any benefit.
i run a programable msd on my FX1 and i noticable difference in the mid range punch it also seems to pull through the rpm's better i don't think i will install one on my RN. i have a micro touch w/solenoid for sale if your interested.

Ive got a buddy who has this set-up on a Type 4 pipe, does this unit work on all dry pipes? Anybody every tried it on a PFP?

I have a FPP B-pipe with completely jacked up screws. Could I remove the screws, patch the holes, and install the ECWI to get my performance back? Also, will it have problems in the ocean salt?

I have one on both of my ski's (both MSD and one is programmable) and it changed the low end punch of the ski - MUCH improved. I like Factory Pipes strainer/filter the best because the normal water flow to the motor keeps the screen clean.

Kawi 750 limited with all screws closed - 165 psi, SXR carbs, timing advance and enhancer

Kawi 650 with all screws closed - PJS 700 cylinder, 170 psi, SXR carbs, advanced timing. This is in a 550 conversion ski with a 20 degree impeller.

So I could just JB weld my damaged screws closed and put in ECWI and have a working pipe again? Any issues with salt? How hard to install? All 3 screws are jacked. I had helicoils put in, but the job wasn't done well enough to make the pipe work right. I have absolutely nothing on the bottom, and tons of pull from the middle up. Carb tuning will not change this. Perfect plugs, anything leaner on the bottom and the plugs go white.

Thanks, been looking for a fix. $210 doesn't seem unreasonable. I can't replace the headpipe for that price. And if ECWI is more performance, seems the way to go, if it will work.

Thanks.

Maybe I'll get it all the way around NEXT time....

I had one on my 750sx, it hit nicely with the ECWI. I would recommend it, and it was noticeable.

Are they typically used for racing or do guys use them for freestyle.... Anybody ever used one with a PowerFactor pipe... Or can you?

here's some info that may or may not be useful depending on how boogered up your pipe is: A week ago I ordered a Factory B Limited for my 2012 SJ and got to yak with the gal at Factory Pipe for a few minutes. She really seemed on top of her game, and she recommended that I NOT buy the ECWI, indicating it would not add much to the performance of a wet pipe (and the B Limited in particular). If I understood her correctly, I got the idea that Factory Pipe does not even offer the ECWI any more. If you knew this already, please excuse my ignorance (just started riding this year).

ECWI does work but as to how much varies from engine setup to engine setup. An example was our 771SS 85 x 68 b/s with an Octane dry pipe. Without the msd water injection there was no bottom end, but with WOW! We then put the pipe and water inj. on a power valved 81 x 74 b/s mod engine and you could not tell if the water was used or not. I believe that there are more factors to the over all effect that WI has such as the torque of an engine when its not on the pipe, ie: ignition system used, compression ratio, bore/stroke combo, impeller nozzle combo. With the way the new DASA transfers are designed you need a low pitch imp. to spin through the off pipe rpm band and work on the pipe or they just spin through the weak part of the power band and snap into the power band so fast that you won't really feel if the pipe is working at its best or not. So once again it all depends on engine/pump setup.

Hahaha, probably not on a big engine like that! What? 1100cc's and powervalves not quite enough hit?

It's never enough though. Almost all of us look for a way to gain a little more power.

my experience with adding more water to the pipe in general is it makes a much biggger diff on low comp motors with stock timing,it gets the motor on the pipe faster and gets it making power much faster, this in turn is more noticable, motors with high comp and timing dont need this help as much thusly its less noticeable has alot to do with the torque curve these type of motors make with those kinda mods..its just moving the curve essentially
