ok well i just bought this ski and ive only had about 20min of trouble free riding. when i start to blast across the water on top it falls on its face flat. no bog. almost like theres nothing left in the carb or sumting. ive messed with the tuning rich or leaner dont do nothin. carb is squeekie clean. new plugs.... i got notin. the longer i run it the worse it will get even down into the mid range. when i start it on land it will completly rev out as it should on the first wack of the throttle how ever on the second wack it will not rev out all the way. ive got an 86 cdi in it so theres no rev limit.....ehh i need some input. but right now im gunna settle for a beer

lol roger more info .. okwell this is sx2s old ski. its a 752cc 750 big pin motor with aris pistons and a 42mm sodoku carb however you spell kit. its got a coffmans chamber pipe on it with an aftermarket dual chamber waterbox. its got 170psi compression in each cylinder thanks to a milled stock head. its got r&d reed stuffers with sxr reeds and cages .(what im told )86 cdi and stock x2 coil and electronics. not sure if its got a machined 650 stator or 750 one but its got a lightened 650 flywheel. all lines in ski are new and yes its clean on the inside...lol the out side is clean too:) the ski runs at a great temp and does not over heat. im running stock routed fuel lines but agian there new. however at the same time this happend it backfired throught the exhuast real ruff a couple times on start up. no exuast leak. it does it no matter hood on or not.....stumped hooah

i'm in. mine has been doing the same thing to an extent. this weekend is the last component to test. i will be pulling the fly wheel and checking timing. a sheered wood-ruff key will allow the fly to shift any number of degrees out of timing. your case the back fire signals this to me.

i do agree on that how ever it hasnt back fired in about 30 starts now... ill tell yea man this things got me thrown for a loop... ill take the cover off and pull the fly wheel this weekend and see whats goin on in there reguards to that. .. i feel like i should have found the prob by now. im pretty frustrated to say the least. it runs and holds an idle well holds a tune, compression is good. start/stop switch is good, no exhuast leak...wtf? i cut back a half inch on the plug leads yesterday didnt seem to make a diff. although i guess the real test will be in the water. i would also like to note that i found a leak on my carb on that back where the diaphram is. im gunna rebuild that and get a coil, stator and a cdi box to change those out.

ok well the key looks to be fine i went through the carb agian and this time i found 2 things. one on the inlet side for the diaphram the oring seal was squished in and ripped. idk if i did it last time i took it apart but i dont think so. so i pulled a seal out of a spare carb and replaced that. also the diaphram that was in there was kinda strechted out a bit.the one that was in the 38mm carb was made of a nice stiff plastic type material so i used that one instead. so tomorrow the rtv will be dry and ill try it out. idt its gunna fix it but its worth a shot. that one seal could be a prob...but not sure why it ran good for the first 20 min then started acting up?

well actually no couldnt get the wheel off with the raggety puller that i had here. however i do belive that i have fixed the problem. only real test will be when i get her wet and take her for a ride :) but she holds good to 2 good throttle wacks way up top now. i blew all the lines out. put that gasket in the carb there and replaced that diaphram in the carb there i also regapped the park plugs a little in ... does anyone know what the right gap is supposed to be? well anyway hopefully ill get to take her to the water tomorrow if not def teusday for sure. will report back!
