when they first came out, everyone thought they were killer, then they started failing and screwing up motors. I had one trash the motor one time, and after that I started rolling them up in a ball, tubes and all and scrapping them to the nearest treeline and just ran premix since. every time someone brings me a ski to check out I recommend doing the same for the same reason. why subject a 1000.00 engine to the mercy of a .40 cent rubber impeller, or a 3.00 hose?

I trust mine. It's doing a great job in the trash.

If it fails you'll know it because 10 seconds later your engine will fail, and you'll have a pretty big bill to pay.

lol...the '93 750 i'm getting has this. Is there another thread or something that I should look at describing how to remove it? And then would it be fine to just put pre-mixed gas in the tank and run it then?

Thanks!

it is called an oil block off plate. a lot of people carry these. this is the first mod you should do.

absolutely!
next mandatory mod is get rid of the crankcase drain -
the black knob thingy and the door on the bottom of the case

yes, you need two block off plates. a rounded diamond-shaped one for where the oil pump sits on the flywheel cover, and the rounded triangular one to put where the drain valve sits.

scrap the oil tank, and then start running premix.

you'll need to completely flush your lines and carb(s) with pre-mix before you start the engine.

Are these block off plates pretty generic...like could I cut some aluminum and cut them to shape and use some gasket material to seal it up?

Thanks for all of your help!

I would certainly buy the crank case block off. It is machined to accept o-rings and needs to seal very well. The oil block off is pretty simple, doesn't hold any pressure, and just has to be water tight. Though if you know how to machine stuff it won't be any problem. You can also tap the holes in the bottom crank case and just put some bolts with 1211 in there to block them off. You could also JBweld something in there but this is not recommended because you want to be able to drain the bottom case if what gets in there.

you could do it that way.

OR

you can premix first, with the oil injection still connected.

run the engine and make sure the premix is getting to the carb.

THEN remove the oil injection.

yes, and it is also possible to lean the motor out with allowing too much oil vs. fuel through the needles, doing it that way.

just flush the lines and carb with fresh premixed fuel. if premix is the only thing going through the lines and the carb, and back in to the tank through the return line, it is assuredly going to the engine.

it's very simple to just get it all done in one swap, and get it over with.

you will also need to rejet the carbs to a larger set of needles because there will will be oil and fuel running through the needles, and not just fuel.

the cheapest fix is to grind down the engagement dog on the stock pump, then just cap off the pump lines. Then remove the tank.

The block off plate is pretty cheap and def worth the money. I tweaked the pump because I couldn't wait for the block off plate to arrive.

would I have to get bigger jets?

yes. because you're not just running fuel through them anymore. you will be running oil and fuel through them. in order to get the same amount of fuel to the engine, they have to be able to flow more volume because of the oil added to the fuel.

another problem with running premix along with the oil injection is too much oil vs. fuel can burn up the engine.

Okay, I understand.

Do you know the stock size jets and which jets I would need...like how much bigger?

So, the oil injection really isn't all that great?
