Looks like a mold for a fiberglass part, hull extensions???

Pretty good guess! I'm actually shortening by 2" - these are my plugs to glass over the holes. I kept the stock angles so I could re-use the exhaust, so that was fun to get the wood in the right shape!

They're lacquered with high gloss lacquer, and I was planning to spray on a coat of teflon lube before I start to laminate. I think they will release OK.

so you are not cutting back the pump tunnel part of the hull? to save the insert? hmmm

Correct. 2" off the sides and a D-cut rideplate - nose should come up pretty well. It actually works out nicely that way since I don't have to hack into too much structure around the rideplate and pump tunnel.

Progress. Rear is now enclosed - and very strong! Rideplate is D-Dut too - should help get the nose up. No paint yet, but I still have to cut out for the exhaust and one-way.

Yours looks a good bit smaller than my SN was but I had that same sharp angle on top and I ripped that top flap open a couple times. 2 layers of 17oz biax with -3" and the top piece was ripped of my ski at Daytona on the first day. I rode it like that for the rest of the weekend though...lol

Not quite sure what you mean by the top piece? This is heavily laminated on the inside - about 10 to 15 layers of 9oz E-glass. The corners are fairly well rounded.
