Deka Battery ETX9

Has anyone had experience using this battery DEKA ETX9 it weighs 6.4 lbs but has 120cca. I do not run T/L ign, so the battery will only be needed for cranking. Will it be enough to crank a Team Scream 5mill Sroker B/B?
I'm stuck :banghead: between this ETX9 or the ETX12 which is just in at 9.47lbs. I am strictly Flatwater lake so wieght is a factor. Just looking for some opinions and facts. Thanks to all.

i USE THE DEKA ETX9. with a 5mil 210 psi ski.
Works awesome. there is an awesome battery box for it too, made by flashsj.

I think there is a pick in my build thread.:brap:

I put a deka etx9 in my 2004 sj a couple weeks ago and so far no problems. I'm running a stock bore/stroke 701 with 175lbs compression and all the usual bolt ons ( no T/L ) and a bilge pump.

Only issue I had was that the battery is so small i've got to find a better way to secure it. Anybody got a link to the flashsj battery box?

I've currently got so much wood/foam/crap around the battery I don't think I saved much weight at all. ( I didn't plan ahead and pressure treated wood and can koozies were all I had available to secure it )

I replaced my 14 lb Yuasa monster with a much smaller 5 lb Scorpion battery and just twisted the original battery straps several times until they fit real tight.

Here is some pics of the battery box i make. The box bolts up in the stock location and also moves the battery more towards the center of the hull and uses the stock straps. I made a metal strap for those that don't wanna use the rubber straps.

About 5 minutes ago, I just finished up installing a Deka ETX20L in my boat. I went with the 20 because I am running TL. It's on an 8 mil 85.5 lamey, so I'm not worried about the couple extra pounds from the heavier battery. If 5 pounds is killing me, I'll lay off the chicken wings for a couple weeks! I ended up using the Thrust Innovations battery hold down, and all I can say is that it's BAD ASS. It keeps the battery clamped down!!!! It is also adjustable for a smaller battery than the ETX20L. And it looks pretty dang blingin too! :brap:

Here's a few pics I just snapped.

rubber straps are teh way to go.. allows the battery some movement when flipping the ski arround.. the fixed battery trays out there make me nervous.. i know i spoke with eth guys at Air Time Products and they told me they looked into the "clamp" sty;e trays, but teh risk of teh battery momentum pulling teh threads out of the hull was too high (they test all there prototypes before releasing them)

i used there billet centre mouting battery tray, uses the stock straps (not show in the pic) .. and i love it!

Sorry, But I gotta call bs on that one. If your battery is going to pull threads out, It will do it with straps also.

I have had Deka ETX9's with Flashsj's trays in both our skis for the past 3 seasons. If you do go with the smaller battery tray and ever want to run a bigger battery, the ETX-14 has the same foorprint as the 9, it's just taller. I use oem battery straps with a knot in them when I run a 9 and take the knot out to run the 14.
