so i bought this thing used, a few years back, been fine forever.

go to start the ski today... intermittant spark, STRONG spark when I let off the start button.

open the elec box, water pours out.

enhancer has white crusty crap on it.

I swapped in my spare, fired right up.

I guess Ill send it off, and see if they can fix, or open it up and see howto make them better.

ive had rock solid faith in them for years, and now I dont any longer.

ive got one more spare MSD, and a couple of stockers.

now to seal up my elec box.

I should be quiet, as I rely on a MSD Pro-Digital II for my ignition needs.:27:

the enhancers are at LEAST better than those!

haha

I am now seriously looking into making one. now that I have one to cook and see whats inside.

I understand everything except how they map the timing curve.

I guess Ill mod my stockers, and move the stator pickup a few degrees.

not a big deal really, im just mad it was running great when I put it up... 3 months ago.

the damn thing went out sitting on the trailer!

water i guess.....

oh well.
its only money.

BINGO! What were you expecting.... They are obviously not waterproof??? WTF?

Damn MSD? I'd say it did everything it was asked to do, right up until your leaky elec. box drowned it...

MSD's can't swim or seal up your wiring box for you.
j/k
I better not jinx myself; I really can't believe mine still works after all the saltwater baths it has had. A new gasket solved my leakey wiring box problems.

Hell yeah damn them!

that thing is solid epoxy or potting compound or whatever... it SHOULD be water tight.

out of the components in the elec box that was the ONLY one that went belly up after a soaking.

there QC on the finish process, the epoxy dip, must be weak.

if they cant take a dunking, they dont belong in a boat.

Ive got another one, so its alright, ive never paid more than $50 for one of these, and thats the first that I have ever experienced a failure with.

I also noticed some of the wires are corroded from the bath. I might clean them and try it again... it was sparking SOME, just not consistantly. maybe the pulser connection was a weak connection.

I know about yours Wax, but IM not spending any money like that, thats more than I spent on the entire SUPERJET.

IM sure its awesome though.

the epoxy block is more then likely water proof
but the wiring is not
and the water will travel up the wire and destroy your enhancer

wow what did you pay for you boat ??

the inferno is 600 + shipping
which should be about 30 us dollars
it comes with two curves i can program for you
or you can buy the programing box as well and thats 225
if 4 people buy a an ignition then i will supply a programing box free of charge

you have the ability to have two switchable curves while you are still running as well as water injection

it comes with a 6 month warranty

Paul from jrmagoos has a programing box as well and he can do it for you

here is a picture of the curve i am running at the moment
you just click and drag the points you want to change

$30 US I'll take one

For $30 you get an empty box  . For another $600 you get an enhancer in the box:frown: .

They look like a real nice product but $600 is way over what I would spend for an enhance. For surf riding my stocker with my timing advanced does just fine. I just dont run wide open runs.

the ignition is not for every one
it makes it possible to get every amount of hp out of your engine thats lurking there
the enhancer doesnt offer you this
It costs more i agree
how fast do you want to go

Wax, so what makes yours better than the Advent? The Advent offers four curves and it is $75 for a custom program? How much more spark energy does your unit provide over stock? Just curious as that is a lot of coin to pay vs. the competition.

And to finish our discussion about timing curves on my Advent, here they are. And these are formulated by a very good tuner, not Greg. Curve "A" is for 91 octane + drypipe. The 2nd curve is for a full SS, but I have been able to run it on pump gas! Note that these are in 250rpm increments. I asked Greg why and he had a very logical answer."How fast does your motor rev", he asked. I understood where he was going with it, the sheer fact that you can go from 1500 rpms to 6000rpms in a couple seconds, programming a specific advance at every 25, 50 or 100 rpms wasn't worth it. While it is a digital input, the curve is analog, just like yours.

Due to the fact you set this ignition up for your engine and its not a generic curve for an engine like yours you can get all the power avaliable to you out of your engine
if all engines were identical then it would be fine one curve would work for all skis
The advent is set with a curve thats been set for a ski thats simillar to yours maybe
it may have different reeds, different compression and carbs etc
Regarding the how much more spark does the inferno make, it makes enough to fire your plugs and have a complete burn of the avaliable mixture
The fact that some ignitions claim they make more spark is of little concen as long as you are firing the plug anymore is a waste of energy
even msd is back to one spark above 4000rpm

if it costs you 75 to get your system programed then i would say that your engine is not optimized as you are not about to go lets try another 2 degrees here and see what happens as its going to cost you 75 to find out

Regarding as to how fast your engines revs as to it doesnt matter
well when you want all the power avaliable to you its does matter
if it didnt matter than we would have one for the bottom and one for the middle and nothing in between

When you are pulling up a wave and want the max aceleration out of your engine it would be a concern to get optimized timing for each power stroke

Its easier and cheaper to make an ignition that only takes it in 250 degree steps and maybe alot of people dont want to try and get the very best out of there engine

You need to know
that if some one claims to make more power with there ignition then you need to run away fast its more about getting all the power lurking there by optimizing your ignition curve to suit your engine

As an example we have spent the day topday sitting on a jetty optimizing a limited sxr
we were able to find for him a much more aggressive midrange and holeshot as well as 150 rpm up top

we tried about 15-20 variations of the curve to get this ski to this point
The owner was very happy with the result at the price of 75 dollars a change at best it would cost 1125 ( more than the price of an inferno and programing box) and more than an afternoon if we had to send it away for each change

I plotted your curves that you posted
just for interest so you can see the shape
