Custom/Hybrid crap i dont know

Does high compression motors require a high torque starter. 230 psi. Brand new deka etx9 brand new Php 898 nikasil 230 psi motor trying to start it for the 1 st time. Motor turns over fine with the plugs out. Put the plugs in and it won't make a revolution.

Nope. Verify battery voltage, just because it's new doesn't mean it's charged. If it's good check all battery/ground cables for loose connections or corrosion.

I'm thinking the battery might be a lil week its sat for 2 months or so. So its charging now gonna try again in a few hours and see what happens any suggestions is very appreciated

From my personal opinion and what I've seen in person those little batteries suck. Lose 8 pounds in gear or body weight and run an etx 16 which has more cca's than the etx 9.

Etx 9 is a good jumper or test battery to go look at skis for me. I can't trust one after leaving me stranded in the water too many times.

But check grounds and connections also like these other guys said. I've had that happen before too. Loose connection and the starter seems weak.

That's most likely your culprit. I'll bet she spins right over after a solid charge.

This guy will bust the nose off his ski long before the battery goes dead, don't listen to him. :)

High torque starter is marketing speak for cheap aftermarket bull:):):):). Buy an OEM starter

Make sure ur motor is properly shimmed and pump is shimmed dead nuts. I had this issue with an old 440 and come to find out it wasn't shimmed properly and the prop was binding slightly on the wear ring. Had same symptoms plugs out turned over fine plugs in felt like a bad battery but it wasnt lol u live and u learn

I have a similar issue starting to rear it's head. Both my ext-9's are about 3+ years old (used with TL and Epic brains) and are beginning to show signs of accelerated discharge with just regular use. I'm gonna buy a 3rd and check them against a fresh new one. I always trickle charge my batts on a battery tender and they have yet to fail me, but with this new season I burned through both batts in a single day. Normally I can get a full day and sometimes a half day too on a single charge. I'm using an oem starter and fresh battery cables and 205-210 compression...so the culprit most likely lies in the battery charge. That said, if I were you I'd inspect my starter or compare urs against a known "good" starter back to back. If no change there then I'd look closely at cables and grounds. Your fresh battery should be good to go with a full charge.

You understand an Etx 9 has 120CCA and a normal, stock battery has over 300.........now you have big motor, more compression, and less battery (2/3 less).

Not to say bad cables, relay, or starter can't do it, but have you tried a large battery it lithium type?

I went from Etx 9s and 12s to the lithiums and have never looked back.

Got it figured out thanks guys. Didn't have the ground wire on correctly. Had it grounded on top of the Ebox moved it to the back side and she fired right up. It just dawned on me this morning that the front part of the Ebox is plastic and probably not a good conductor. Thanks for all the help. Looking forward to hiting the water

Cool deal bud!

It is grounded on the back side of the starter. I have a ground running from the battery to the Ebox and another running from the starter to the ebox. Is this not the correct way? I'm actually surprised its as quiet as it is. I was really expecting it to be extremely loud
