Here is the deal, you must heat it until annealed (turns color), then lightly sand with perhaps 220 to remove any scale, then install with a really thin coat of 1211 for best seal and torque down properly. Apparently the heating softens and expands the metal allowing for better squish.

Thanks Crab for the proper way! I did the heat part. Just didnt have any 1211 and slapped it on for the freeride. So far so good, I'm just going to leave it.

No problem, this is how it was explained to me by a local ski guru/repair guy. I have to run one since I run no base gasket, it offsets the difference from the stock thin gasket to keep proper squish.

thanks crab going to take x2 for a spin tomorrow i am going to use the old stock exhaust return cooling line for the main cooling line, i am buying another hull sunday only 40 miles away for 50 dollars has no cracks just in case or maybe 701 conversion

I am still not convinced the 701 is that impressive. I have a ford that will turn 9 grand never gave up the faith ford has done some dumb stuff. I am also a diehard kawi fan am I loosing it??????????

2 minutes on my round nose will change your mind, my bud Mike has an SXR and he can not believe the bottom end pull mine has in the surf compared to his.
