Cleveland Vid: 8/19/08 with 3D ACTION!

1) I personally try not to ride in less than 5-6ft of water and deeper if I can in big waves. I generally ride in about 20-30+ ft water at the mouth of Rocky River, which has a break wall to hide behind if it gets too dicey. It's just a painful 12 min no-wake ride from the launch to the mouth.

2) Today it was shallow as what at the beach. It usually gets fairly deep by about 100 yds off the beach. Today it was ankle deep for almost 50-75 ft out. It was waist deep to almost 100 yds. It was very shallow for the conditions.

3) Several of us did hit bottom a couple times. Mainly the couch riders though, getting big air!

Anyways how is the riding up that way? I used to live in Valparaiso Indiana, and would spend a lot of time up at the Dunes although I never rode up there I always wanted too!

the ride down the river does suck but i think water seems to get bigger there. theres a formula for all that stuff like a wave can only get half the the height of the water depth. The river is 20-30 feet at the mouth but on that huge day this year i hit bottom at the very end of the river!:bigeyes: i think a few of us are going after work one day this week to the river...gotta test out the new (old) sj....:Banane25:

Since I do a lot of couch riding I like to take the skis out there b/c its a relaxing cruise down the river with a cup of coffee (tea for me) in the early morning and then I go rip up the coast line for a a while and head in to start my day.

If you are just inside the end of the break wall by the rock cliff it gets very shallow in a hurry. There is also some sunken rocks in the mouth. I was riding in 10 ftrs one day and decided to come inside the break wall to hop off for a potty break... I hopped off and I was standing in about chest deep water :wave: ...

Once you get out to the edge of the wall you are good to 20-30 ft deep. That should leave you 10-15ft of water in 10-15 ft waves... thats the biggest I have ever gone there...

yea iv sceen big water there too but im thinking its prob due to the depth increasing on north wind days, i think the study on all that was done by the army engineer corps i know theres a website on it...very cool stuff...way more goes on then we even realize....monkey ill shoot ya a pm when we decide on a day....whats everyone doing for the big weekend....>?

I know that wave height is related to water depth... I think it is the depth of the water where the wave originates. Wikipedia isn't much help.

Its great...I live in chicago but ride out of New buffalo, michigan, just north of Michigan City. The summer has had the occasional rough day but these past 3-4 weekends have been nuts. Winds from the north and NW have created huge waves to the south of the break wall. The way the waves are breaking resemble the surf so much its really fun.

It just sucks I have school now and its harder to get up there. It sucks even more we just got a new boat and won't be able to use it til next summer.

1. Water still looks fugging cold in the middle of Aug.

2. The women in the video are white as a ghosts.

3. Didn't see a fishing pole with the guy on the 3D, but I'm sure he had to be fishing cause he wasn't moving.

1. The water is 73 degrees now. It topped off around 78 this year. It will be an ice cube in February.

I have ridden 12 footers with Korn at Edgewater. The size of the beach gets cut in half and the 12 footers are breaking in 3-10 feet of water. It is insanity.

And they were one after another with 20 feet in between.

We are rippin tomorrow.

yea they do seem to come in alot cleaner there...the river's usually sloppy unless its solid wind for a few days....anyone go out today???..i got phone calls from peeps sayin 5-6 footers.....but like usual work eats my summer away...:rocketwhore: i grabed a new ski and believe me im still keepin it old school.....nothing like some vintage yamaha pink! oooo yeeaaaa however so far all iv got to do is look at it:thinking: thursday i think were gonna hit the river up for a quick ride after work..............
