clearing exhaust tube w/ rev footholds

I was working on my ski tonight, trying to get the rev footholds in and noticed that the exhaust tube hits the toe on the right side. In order to remedy this problem, I just dented the tube w/ a hammer until the foothold would fit. Will this have any adverse effects on how the ski runs??

Yes I did search about this and found out that the preferred method seems to be to notch the foothold but It's a little too late for that now :)

Thanks!

How much did you dent it? If it is less than half way it shouldn't have hurt anything, but I would have notched the hold. You should be fine.

Here are the pictures. If I have dented the tube too much then I guess I'll just have to get a new section of tube welded in, but if the engine will not be effected by this, then it is staying.

ouch! that is going to restrict exhaust flow.
How much is another question . . . . every bit will affect backpressure
amount of water in the wbox, performance, etc.
I would look for another one- someone online has ditched theirs for front exhaust and dual scuppers so maybe get one cheap.

the shiddy part is it might be fine,, but if its not you gotta tare your ski all apart... Again..

people do run a 2" exit,, i think it will be fine

im In the process of putting revs in my sj, i ended up pulling the pipe out and dropping it 1.5 inches. i just bored out the foam and lowered the pipe that way. Im thinking about starting a build thread because i have never seen anyone do it my way.

Do you have any pictures? If you lower it at the bulkhead then the flange won't sit flat on the rear of the hull. Or did you lower it at the front and the back.

I seen someone that took it to a muffler shop and had a bend put in it to clear.

I just lowered it in the front and twisted it clockwise about half an inch and it lined up pretty good...

I lowered my exhaust tube and still ended up having to cut a notch in the footholds. to make flange fit flush I built up the transom using marinetex
waste of time
just cut the foothold and rebuild while reinforcing the whole tray with biax:biggthumpup:

All you have to do is lower the tube, and then take a hammer to the flange to make it flush against the boat, or if you didn't lower it alot like I had to for my setup, you can twist it for a new flush fit ... super easy.
