got some paint form blowsion. i am trying to match some parts to 2001 yamaha blue,

after the 2nd coat i am thinking this color is not the same color, looks like pre 2001 blue to me, when i clear coat it will the color chage at all?
john at blowsion swears this is the right color for 2001 but not looking too much like it yet.
maybe after another coat:banghead:

Clear can change the color slightly but if its a big difference it probably wont work. What will change the color is what color it is sprayed over if it is too dark try spraying it white first then spray the blue or maybe even silver. Same if its too light try a dark color primer.

where did you get all those codes from colorrite, when i look up superjet on that site i get only 2 colors, the white and the blue?

if you look up 2001 i see the color i need, if i look up 1998 i see the color i sprayed.

i wonder if blowsion will take this back and send out the right color?
here is a pic of what i have here:
what do you guys think

thought i had the motor done, ends up the spacer plate that i had on my single manifold is not the same as a reed spacer more just an adapter
so no i am wiating to see if i should get one of these or not , then the motor is gonna be all buttoned up and i cn pressure test it

then the rest is all hull once that is done and the guts go back in

well i jsut got an email from john at blosion
he says this is indeed the right color, he thinks the ski has been repainted i just don't think so. Or says the primer was to light and i need more coats of base.

i just dont see it, i still had the stock stickers on this ski so it is the stock color ( not even sunfaded),
do you guys think i will get that much of a color change if i keep spraying layers??
primer used is gray whcih is what blowsion recommended
i just hate to use all of these supplies ( cost me nearly 200 bux) cuz i could have just bought a hood for that price
damn

Did you send him the pics? I don't think any more coats are gonna do anything. Its a different color for sure. It looks good, though. Did you paint the nose piece too? Maybe paint the rest of the ski!

it's not repainted, , same color under the stock stickers and under the old turf unless the guy stripped it down fully and spayed the whole ski

So did you spray color rite or sherwin Williams? I have a 1998 that I need to spray the hood on so I’m just trying to figure out the correct color code.

CVolorrite is damned expensive, my recommendation is find a Nason dealer and take them the part you want to repaint so they can scan it with their electric eye paint matching tool, what that tool does is search their database for a color close to yours then adjust it to match, it usually matches dead on unless the paint is old and faded out, I would go with single stage polyurethane , that way no clearcoat is required and if it is non metallic you can sand and buff it if you have a run or het trash in the paint.
