Check out this concept

how do you think it is ltd use? you are in the tray anyways so whats the biggie the sides aren't there... you use the footstraps as foot holds so i don't see the problem there.. in regards to structural integrity... look at pancakes hull it is stronger and lighter than a stock hull... it's all about reinforcement. carbon fiber, texalium, and other composites combined with other resins and chemicals can make it damn near unbreakable. using a higher density foam will compensate for the lack of foam in the rear around the tray area

texalium is nothing but flashy fiberglass.

There was some ski like this and the guy had a limiting rope that would only let his handlepole come up so fan and a aluminum structure under the handle pole, so it was kind-of like one of those 24/7 hood/steering kits. I remember seeing it on pwctoday. Anyone else?

I'd like to ride it - like everything else - it is so modified that if you didn't like it you'd be super screwed. "Trying" it (doing this to your ski without riding it first) has such a potental for a HUGE change that you hate.

I am loving how the tubbies were incorporated into the paint job. I was thinking about whether water would come across the tray during hard turns but the x2 doesn't have a problem with that. The wider stance also gives you so much more leverage over the ski. I think you would have to beef up the bottom of the ski more then the top, especially around the pump shoe. You are loosing a lot of area and material high up on the top deck. Some one who is structural engineer should chime in.

wrong a 2lb foam floats better than a 4lb...
a 2lb will offer flotation of 60 LBs per Cubic Ft while a 4lb does 58lbs...
a 16lb only offers 46lbs...
it's all about volume supporting a certain weight...

People who have done a defoam/refoam of their SJ will know what I'm talking about, you're taking a whole lot of foam but cutting the side walls on the deck.

Maybe mudphish can say if they use some special foam to compensate ?

I'd love to try this hull with a top hood h20x from 24/7 will be a nice package ;-).

with the 24/7 hood and steering system that would be a cool and really functional ski. I am concerned about it possibly sinking. The nice concept about it is for surf guys. Looks like it will give you ample room for a nice wide stance. However it also limits your options for foot placement..........that is the down side to any foot strap. I agree with what was previously said that it is a good idea but it is not a versitile design.........its just different. I think you can get better functionality while retaining the concept by doing a side like an x-jet, sxr or WCF (decreases side profile) and installing some of the Kenny style footholds (the big arse ones). That will give you more foot placement options, support you ankles and give you more leverage and retain enough cubic feet of foam for proper flotation.

How does it feel when you roll it. Probably takes anouther 10lbs off the back of the boat which sounds pretty cool. But I think the risks out weight the benifits.

That looks great..:arms: Paint job w/tubbies worked out grate.
The foam and structure make me wonder for a surf boat. Laying up enough glass to support a 12" - 18" rear swim platform with no real deck support would be alot of weight and still not be as stong. Let the beatings begin..:arms:

Kinda like a 3d i guess

a $20k 3D,

The good thing about footholds is they hold the whole foot and support the side of the ankles during ariels. Here you'd have all the stress centered on one area of the foot and it's now taking side impact where your foot once had support and protection. Ever wonder why the side of the ski cracks back there and needs to be reinforced?

If it floats (which I think she will) you will figure out how to make it work for you. Sounds like a lot of people are knocking the idea but I think it will be a fun boat. Besides, looking at the quality of the paint work and the parts you have on, it's apparent that you are confident in this "prototype".

Let me know how she rips.

Is that an XFT hood/pole on it?

It looks gay as hell to me, I can't believe Submarine isn't all over it :sneaky:

Just kidding! I wouldn't think it would float, but the back won't crack if it has a good foam job in it. Where's the exhaust? I don't know why everyone's hating on it, if you like straps over holds, it looks like a lot better design. You can get a nice wide stance in the straps with the sides gone.

If Visser made the SeaDoo 3D "look" cool, I'm now wondering what pro rider is going to pilot this ski.

I'm certain that once pictures/video of this ski being ridden by lets say....JK, many will begin to retract their skepticism. I don't care who rides it, it just doesn't seem practical...but if anyone in the industry can pull it off, Blowsion can!

visser rode a SJ very similar to this in the visser freeride explosion CD.

He only rode it a couple of time then sold it!

That ski is really tricked out!!

Just not sure who owns it now!!..... lucky guy!!

Its still here in SA:Banane01:

any word on the performance of the ski??? I saw this pic some time ago and was wondering when it would show up....

I absolutely love the idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm seriously thinking about chopping my gunwales... I've wanted to chop em since I first saw this pic... Not all the way down, but just above the foothold.

What's the word Mud??
