This mod is a lot of fun. Did it to an old square nose. Makes the ski handle very nicely, and very accommodating ergonomics for foot placement. Ski looks pretty goofy from a dead on side profile however. The quartering front shot is probably the most flattering.
The one very unexpected and significant consequence of the mod is that you have no gunnels to leverage your arms against when you are climbing back into the tray. This easily quadruples the effort and time to get back in. You feel like a turtle that’s high centered. I only use this ski for pleasure carving on the lake where falling is rare and relatively inconsequential. I would not recommend it for surf ridding since feet in and out of the tray is a regular occurrence, and in large surf sometimes you only have split seconds to recover and ride out before you’ve got a big repair bill on your hands.
I never use the gunnals to get back on. I side mount.
he's talking about a pole ski
....and your ski is a pain in the butt to board in deep water IMO
that's not an opinion, it's a fact. I'm getting used to it though.....and your ski is a pain in the butt to board in deep water IMO

My first Mex Rager trip (2001?) there was a B1 Wave Blaster with the seat/lower seat area removed. Picture a B1 with 1 big flat tray area. A little like a 3D I supose. Thats what this reminds me of. That thing may be cool with that superjet X2 conversion hood on it.
I think I learned the drill with all those drunken rednecks racing straight for me on labor day weekend. Apperently I'm the asshole 'cause I wasn't going counter-clock wise while riding sober.funny....i have no trouble :haha: maybe you guys just need a few pointers:biggrin:
