Can I use I pitted head, if prepped properly..?

I've seen threads where people ask this, and get mixed replies. I know it's probably shot, and I should never use it, and I never would even consider it if I weren't broke, and in need of a head. If I file down all the high spots and make sure and remove any possible loose metal, what could possibly go wrong?
This is a total newb question, as this is the first engine I've ever built. I've been running the stock head for several months, and I want more compression.
And again, I know the right answer is to get a new head. Just want to see if anyone has run pitted heads, and how well it worked out for them. Thanks.

The Good Old Days
Had to run a deto pitted head once that I cleaned up. Had no issues at all but my head looked mint compared to yours.

How much is a stock head anyway ?

A stock head is CHEAP. I have a good stock head to run.
I'm going to stick with my stocker until I can come off the change for a good A/M.
I was just curious if anyone had run anything like this with any luck. I know it's only a small pin 780, but I've got enough in it that it's not worth risking burning it up for a little more brap.

yeah sorry about that again hehe

Haha, I want my $35 bones.
That was the steal of the build!! I seriously need to find a head ASAP. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to bump my compression. I may have to just buy a stock head and have it shipped to Tim Z.

What was your compression? you could get one from an SXI or a few other 750's, they had smaller domes. Call me I can give you a number to Shan Dobson, he knows what ones will work for you.

My compression with the stock head I am running is 160/160. I want to get up around 180-190, or as much as possible on 93 octane.

haha how about a bed plate instead?

Id still use that head. I had a 650sx with a head worse than that. I cleaned it up and have let my friends beat the snot out of it for years.

It's so very tempting. I know it would rip with this head, I'm just scared of trashing the engine. So far your the only one who's said it'd work. Like I said I know I SHOULDN'T.. I just don't have the change for another head right now. Or the patience.
