Sean: When NOAA wrote the regulations, they put in a definition of Jet Ski use that basically limited the regulations to machines with only one or two seats. Industry quickly saw that loophole and made machines that have three or four seats, and those are exempted. NOAA has basically agreed with that and said larger machines are exempted from this regulation. So on paper, Jet Skis are prohibited, but in practice, three- and four-seat PWCs, which are the majority of machines out there, can basically go wherever they want. People have realized that the definition wasn't broad enough and that we need to encompass these new machines. NOAA was also looking at what other agencies like the Park Service had done. They have prohibited Jet Skis from Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Point Reyes National Seashore.



So....a stand up would be OK....right?

wow, talk about exclusionist attitude... I also don't care how "they" deem it ok to use skis for big tow-surfing, but nothing else. And this was after they already outlawed them. Hilarious. But wait, we can use them for our means only if they have 2-3 seats or more. LOL! Tell ya what, I won't label all surfers PRICKS like the two guys in the interview seem to unfairly label all jet skiers. Somehow that wouldn't be fair would it. Read the article. Damn, if you're buying their two man tap dance...these two guys got something to sell ya!:noevil:

x2 ive bean searching all morning and cant find any info on fines or anything . there is nothing in Moss Landing but a marina and a powerplant. maybe a couple guys for a couple hours wellllllll away from the surfers might be ok.

Cool a way to bag lots of waves and not have to waste energy on the paddle back out.Away from the crowds.Tow in's / at's popularized by surf video's and yes Surfer magazine.The guys on the 3 seaters you have seen them no life vest, no spotter and pfd over the handle bars.People who ride motocross bikes and surf? Mike Parsons , Sunny Garcia. Pat o'connell and Rob Machado Have been spotted doing tow in's on head high waves at Oceanside.This is rich! I heard a couple tow in guys at the wash out last week saying when we gonna town in to Black's.

You know it really boils down to this- Good shaped, ride able waves are a scarce commodity. Paddle Surfers, Tow and Step surfers and Stand up free riders all dislike each other because we all pose a threat to each others ability to get waves. It’s sad that we fight amongst each other when we should be banding together against environmentalists to ensure that we ALL have a designated riding spots for each of our groups.

the new Transworld Surf has an ad w/ Jamie OBrian on a ski w/ no PFD and some other kook in the background w/ no PFD.

they are hyping up the Surfrider Foundation too... Telling everyone they should join.. stupid :):):):)s!!!!

LOL, I swear, I thought that exact SAME thing earlier after reading that :):):):)ing POS article/ interview! I'd drop some serious coin to fight those :):):):)ers, and their cause! COuld you imagine 2 jet skiers being interviewed and calling out for surfers to be striken off the face of any surf? I mean wtf, they disturb ocean animals and habitat too ya know. :rolleyes: On a more serious note... I just re-upped my AWA membership for 3 more years. Guess that's on a little smaller scale. Anyhow...
