Broken fuel tank spigot

Hey Peeps!

Just getting back into it and rebuilding my old motor. While yanking out the tank, I broke off one of the fueltank spigots (one of the return lines). Is there a kit that you know of to R&R these? I seem to recall seeing some sort of setup a long time ago. But, I can't remember if it was handmade or not.

Thanks in advance!

Go to your local auto parts store, and get a brass nipple. Drill the hole out, a little smaller than the threaded part of the nipple, and screw the nipple in.

I did this on my ski, and it has taken all kinds of abuse for the last 9 months.

Here's the repair

Here's the repair. Autoparts store - Brass fitting $1.49.

Drilled out the hole, tapped it, a bit of epoxy, and voila!

Solid.

Thanks again, guys!

I remember in my UMI catalogue, they made a breather for a gas can that looked cool.

I would have done as you too. I probably would have done the o-ring and nut though. It would have been hard to get that nut tightened up but with enough swivels and extensions and it is possible.

DBR, It's amazing at how thick those tanks are at the top. The brass nipple has plenty of plastic to take hold in. that fix will be just as good as factory, actually better IMO...

Great job aquaholic!:woot:

I recently did the brass fitting mod on my wife's SJ. I just used some teflon tape and no problems or leaks! Looks pretty trick too.

Man I think the lake is gonna be gross! We need to stay away from the beach and just tear it up like a mile out.
