06 Sxr..Internal mods..Exhaust Stinger and A/F's.
Problem..Harder than normal starting, intermintent bog all through out the powerband. Will bog/sputter at wot for a few seconds then cleans up, the same has also happened when blipping from 1/4 throttle.
What I have done so far...Rebuilt carbs (3 times), replaced all fuel lines, drained gas tank, cleaned fuel pickup, replaced fuel filters, inspected reeds, new gas cap/o-ring and filler neck. I am running 50:1 and the plugs when inspected look fine. Compression is also good. Stock carb settings. Bog remains if I ride without the hood. No visable exhaust leaks. Visually I see nothing wrong.
Story....3 years ago I did have problem with water getting into my tank causing a horrible bog. I have had the problem since. My filler neck actually had stripped threads which was letting water into the tank while doing subs and fountains. Problem got better once I replaced the pieces, drained tank/lines and rebuilt carbs. Unfortunately the problem only got better and never fully went away.
What else should I look at? Im really thinking it is still a carb issue but I am no expert. Im very close to buying an extra set on carbs and swapping them to see if the problem goes away. Any input before I spend money that might not fix the problem?
