damn I quit riding around when road fools 5 was out, now theyre at 14. They still havent came that far in bmx, a few tricks here and there are pretty new like the around the world, riding backwards tailwhips, and some more tech stuff but other than they just do more combos than back in the day.

I think that the fmx would be a better comparison to freeriding. It is very similar. Our downfall would be that we dont have a consistant jump and no seat. But on a blaster and a double up there is no reason you couldnt do every FMX trick. I was watching moto pig on Rush HD the other day and it made me want another blaster. Holy grab to rock solid, Heart attack indian air, high chairs. There is no reason the blaster guys shouldnt be able to do any of these tricks( I know some of you do). I guess on our stand ups we need to start mounting holds all over the gunwhales.

I agree with holds on the gunwhales. I was thinking one long bucket along the top outside for grabs.

oh yeah, start conveting your ski's to fixed steering...

keep in mind whether it is bmx or moto x, these guys have the same ramp everytime they try a trick, they can do it over and over again and change their style, with a wave every time you have to adjust to the wave and conditions, even setup to the wave can be a challenge. /

This is probably the hardest part! Totally agree! Also, I dont know about you guys, but I need to go to work the following day, or Monday. :dunno: If I started younger, yes. But especially in MI, no one needs to lose thier job now with the economy. :frown: Medical bills are to high to be stupid or try crazy stuff, we all know that. Its a little different if a 300lb ski lands on you or a BMX bike, plus we dont have foam pits either to try things.

Here is what I dug up on the costs:

Stock YZ250: $6299
Stock Superjet: $6500
Stock SXR: $6500

Pro MX Bike $10,000-$20000
Pro Freestyle
or Freeride Ski $10,000-$20000

BMX Freestyle Bike: You can get a full blown badass one ready to go for about $500-$700.

The Motocross Bikes require wayyyyy more maintenance, however.
Skis have no: Tires, Breaks, Transmission, Clutch, Wheel Bearings, Bushings etc... (These parts wear out all the time on bikes. Even worse on 4 wheelers) I would think MX would be a little more expensive than Jetskiing.

that's ********ing ridiculous!!!!!!!!

This is true, but they are practically race ready. Well the new Suzuki 450 quad has +2 A arms and rear axle and everything, all these quads come with adjustable suspension from the factory. Its crazy, I love mine, but it needs to go when I get back from AZ.

I never got into freestyle mx, but in the water I am not scared of anything.<---except my 1st BF. There is just only so much you can do with a 300lb ski like Nick said. It cost $ to go big on flatwater, vs a surf boat you could be rippen a square for 1-2k. The sport just needs publicity.

You guys can say its because of money or lack of people in the sport. I slighty agree with both ideas but lets face it, fmx and bmx just look much cooler and you can ride them ANYWHERE! That is the reason why I was into both sports (and quads) until two years ago. All I had was flat water(not very appealing at first) But i broke my ankle real bad, was laid up for months, lost lots of $ in work and WAY more in medical bills. So I pussed up and made the switch to water sports:purr:

This is the real reason we arnt progressing as fast as fmx. Ill admit it I got into jetskis because theres alot less of a chance im going to get hurt. Its not the pain im afraid of its not being able to work and lose my house! This is the reason I dont try insane tricks like body varials or kiss of death (can imagine doing both on a ski in surf)

kingnothing.....well that makes 2 of us bud, that was the sole reason I sold both my mx bikes. I kept near getting month long injurys. They were sick fun,but when ya turn 30,healing takes alot longer. Riding in the surf is like riding with a foam pit all the time.lol! Something goes wrong just toss it to the side and splash rather than splat.

Ask stricky about it,he near killed himself also.
