that's because it's textured. textured surfaces don't stick to water as well as smooth ones.

Yea, Ive had that in my mind the entire time, I just didnt think that it would make that big of a difference, not for just the rideplate at least.

hey fox, i have a friend that is going to be putting his js hull in a cnc mill this winter and machining it to accept the 750 style pump. it will be glassed over then milled smooth for a matting surface. i think he/we will be pulling a mold to make it a glass in pump cavity available for anyone that wants it for a reasonable price.

What is he going to be doing about raising the tray floor 3/4 of an inch as well as the new bulkhead?

he is an engineer and operates and programs some extremely large project for the military.

i'm sure thats not a problem.

picture a js hull upside down in a large 5axis machine if you will with foam and smc just a flying.

he may know how to operate a CNC, but that doesnt mean he knows how to line up a bulkhead and glass it all back together... lol. Just sayin.

Either way that will be tits. I'll buy a bottom deck...

Awesome! D cut ride plate for the win. I need to cut it even shorter and deeper D cut! Ski was riding awesome today, This is my first time really trying this and I'm totally starting to get a hang of the flat water barrel roll.... Definitely need some better battery straps. Just wish the camera was faster.

Also found out half way through the day that 3 of my 4 pump mounting bolts had vibrated OUT... totally gone. Pump was loosely held in by 1 bolt, intake grate, and some silicone...

These videos are taken riding without a rideplate at all.

for anything close to a stock 550, Id say actually go with a extended rideplate. But thats just me.

Again... no rideplate. These videos were taken early, and obviously I needed more speed through them, which I did later in the day.

Without a rideplate It was far to boucey and uncontrolable to get up on a setup wake just like I wanted to.

I ordered the killer x-metal trim cable today, should be here by friday... then I'll finally be able to actually have powa to use my trim :Banane09:

Im not sure I did anywhere close to WOT on this except maybe one or two turns. Riding without the rideplate made it bouncey as hell. Plus its just loud as all hell with that waterbox.

It really doesnt have a huge snap off bottom as how I'd like, Ive narrowed it down to a few things, but Im not sure exactly which it would be.

Either its because Im using OEM dual 44's which obviously have crap for low speed circuits... Im planning on going to Blackjacks soon to see if this is actually the problem.

Or B) its just the fact that its a Tim Judge/Riva cylinder. I mean the thing rips like all living hell from mid range on, its just a big soggy on the bottom response.

Or, C) the oem 760 reeds I'm running just dont do the job?

Then again I might just be lean on the low jet. haha. Im running 125 high and low.

Edit... I also forgot the compression has been down since I put this motor together. I keep forgetting about that... lol

what wavedemon said, you need a setup wake for a launch ramp. it also looks like you're trying to use your body to roll the ski, instead of cranking the bars to one side when you hammer it and letting the pump roll it.

yea, but rear of the ski wasnt coming up. Without a rideplate it just wanted to sag down through a setup wave, so it was just easier to do it off a pop.

Im going back out tomorrow to work more.

Maybe I'll order some new rings tomorrow too.

what makes you think it's the rings? have you done a compression test? that thing looks to be set rich as hell. you might just try dialing in the carbs a little leaner. what do the plugs look like after you run it a few braps and kill it?

scratch compression test, I just saw your edited comment...lol

I need to do another test tomorrow, first time in a while since I know the engine is well broken in now. But a few rides into this motor it was at 150 psi. Im running 35cc domes, so i should be around 185.

As for plugs... I havnt even pulled them to check. LOL. they are probably black, i know it smokes alot. Im just far to happy to have the ski all running again. This is all stuff I'll be doing tomorrow. I'll probably be adding a water pisser to the outlet of the waterbox to try and quiet it down a bit. My ears always ring after a long ride.

you might want to get a jetworks flow control valve to dry out the exhaust at low rpms, it will help it jump out of the water better when you slap the throttle. for as big as that engine and pump is in relation to how small that hull is, that thing should be flying out of the water like a rocket when you hammer it.

Roger that. I'll build one tomorrow. <3 ACE hardware.

The design of my waterbox is actually quite horrible. I put it together as compact as possible. There is a 90* bend up at one side and a 90* bend down on the other. So either the exhaust is blowing down into it and washed around the top, or its blown up and then pushed back up again. Right now I have the inlet facing down and the outlet facing up. So water really likes to stay in the canister. I could flip it, but I feel that when sitting, water fills it (and the chamber) up rather easy.

scrap it. put a dang 440/550 aluminum waterbox in there.

wasn't that motor ported? when you port you usually have to lower the cc on the domes to raise compression as the porting actually lowers compression most of the time.
