best way to clean up hard water spot marks

ok, since moving to Yuma, the water is pretty harsh here and leaves the skis with nasty water spots,
i've tried some traditional cleaners/polishes and nothing really seems to get them clean or removed
i have the MrClean car clean system, but haven't used it yet on the skis, it has the built in water softner that provides spot free rise, which worked nice on the truck.

what do you use?
someone mentioned something about distilled vinegar mixed with water, and then some spray cleaner after that
thoughts?
I may have to get some real good elbow grease action onto it to get them removed, not easy with the high heat and strong sunshine here

Warning, I have been known to wax my stand up.

Vinigar has never worked well for me so I go straight to Lime Away; I love the stuff. Its not good for any metallic meterial since it will corrode it. I give my ski an anual bath before it goes up for winter. It will come out looking as if its been waxed. Wet your ski down first and be careful around any aluminium/ hardware; wet a rag with water and squirt some of the gel Lime Away on the rag and go to town gently washing as if it was soap. Rinse frequently, I have never experienced any paint damage but I don't risk it so I keep it wet the whole time.

RINSE YOUR SKI WELL afterwards. If the water spotting is heavy it may need another application. Last winter my ski was appart so I did my headpipe, chamber, and cylinder head with some Lime Away and it all turned out looking brand new.

rust-aid from home depot. youll find it in the plumbing or irrigation section. its meant to be diluted and drawn from a big tank to avoid hard water stains when using a well-based sprinkler system.

buy the smallest bottle they have and mix it with water. you need VERY little rust aid when mixing. i belive its 100:1, but i always go stronger and rinse sooner/ more frequently.

you just spray, watch the scum crawl down the ski for about a minute. rinse off thoroughly. repeat.

i'll see if i can find some of this stuff
would walley world have this lime-away

another downfall is that it's a 45 minute drive through the dessert to get home, so i will spot up and dry from coming out of the river too :(

at least the water is nice and warm too

i live in parker lake havasu area and the river is the worst for water spots . i have used everything known to man .. but i found out that HOT SAUCE works the best ,,, its a lil pricy but well worth the cost .. it is a water spot remover and a wax. we use it on the boats and the jet ski's //

the best way to use this is to pour a lil on a micro fiber cloth and rub it around.

here is a link to what i am talking about ..

most definately we will hook up
we just got our first rides in last weekend, so need to get in shape a little, and make sure everything is ok, if i wasn't F-ed up i'd be up or out this weekend

i read some other sites about that hot sauce, HIGHLY recommended, so i'll order some and try it out

it didn't feel that hot out here, comfy, but supposed to be 117 this weekend, perfect skiing weather, and the river is flowing nicely too

i have a SJ and she has an SXR (posted photos of her ski in the myski section)

wipe the ski with a soft cloth when putting it up on trailer and you wont have the spots

I keep an Absorber in the van all the time. Wipe down the skis when you pull them out and you'll be miles ahead. I also recommend the lime-away. It worked wonders on some stubborn spots on my blaster.

I heard that Duckys worked well. From my understanding, any thing thats going to cut water spots is going to harm metals and require careful use. So for me I think I will stick to Lime Away cause its cheap and readily available. But if Ducky's or any other waterspot remover really won't cause any corrosion or oxidation, I would much rather use it.
