You would think premix in direct contact would keep it from rusting. Must be a really cheap grade of steel, probably rusting before we ever get it out of the box.:bs2:

I do know that in the heat of summer this happened - twice - & I removed the primer & the problem went away completely.

As to why a primer - the OEM38mm carbs didn't need one, the OEM44s do so far.:dunno: They sure made a BIG difference.:Banane01: :Banane01: :Banane01: :Banane01: :Banane01: :Banane01: :Banane01: :Banane01:

The last time I bought a bulb type from JSS, I got a second ball in a little ziplock. I didn't the first time. Perhaps John is including them in recent orders?

Just thinking out loud here.....
Wouldn't you have to have water in your gas for it to let the ball rust? (Isn't is supposed to be sealed off from the outside. If that little check valve ball could rust from water, maybe the insides of your carbs are rusting also? Just an idea
Is your need/seat in good shape??

I have to use needle nose pliers to use my plunger style primer for that initial start of the day. It was a limiting rope victim. :skull2:

drill a small hole in it and put a key ring onto it
ive been useing the same one for 5-7 years like that

While were talking about primers my new setup (48mm full spectrums) only has one primmer nipple. Is this somethign to be concerned about or should I just hook it up with one and if I need a squirt of fuel then hit it on the one carb and then the 2nd cylinder will come on pretty quick? I don't know what to do I don't want to drill these beautiful carbs for another nippple.

One will be OK

Well, when the carbs flooded the engine & a cupful of black, nasty, exhaust stained liquid goo spewed out the exhaust & all over a basket of clothes my wife about freakin' killed me...... :banghead: :banghead:

Those stains never come out.....

that happened to me once too bob....at my old house...

I GUARANTEE you I suffered a greater demise.........these were the days of amanda the hun :scared:

had my JSS primer now over a year and its still perfect! it works even BETTER in conjunction with magic spark plugs....

but, seeing as you are running freestyle sponges...you really shouldnt need any of that stuff

I second Butti on that one if it is set up properly you shouldn't need one.
When a 15' wave munches your ass, your carbs take a drink, and the next wave is about to stage a repeat performance, you'll see God. When you do, thank him for your primer, start your ski, and get the hell out of there.
