i need to buy a new battery and want to know which is the best one out there.
i dont care about weight, just reliability. the longest lasting and preferably maintenance free. what do you guys run?
thanks!

I have an odessy going strong for over nine years. Its been abused with msd total loss ignitions and been sank in the ocean countless times.

does anyone know if battery tenders will charge a dead battery?

Most times it will no problems..
I did have an gel batter that crapped on me it wouldnt charge that one but an old analog charger would.
I used a tender with my battery that got drained everytime I rode with total loss and the tender always got it back to life..

i bought a seadoo back in july (for resale) it had been sitting for over a year when i got it
i put a sbt motor in it and charged the west marine battery and its still holding a charge ! i used it monday
i will buy another if it fails
i also wieghed it 15 lbs whew i thought it was heavy
yb16clb -oem battery 15 lbs

I like the jetworks KB-35 also, but I hate the terminal connections. You have to have a wrench and screw driver to connect/disconnect the battery cables. Brett you were there on the beach that day, you saw how that sucked.

My next battery will be another yb16clb. The one that came in my SXR lasted for about 4 years.

The only way the Jetworks sucks is if you don't have a stubby phillips and 10mm wrench .
If you have the right tools it's simple and the terminals will never break the way they are designed .

The odysseys terminals can break if over tightened and the lead ones break also .

Jetworks for me, and I rarely have to charge them except over the winter when I only ride about once a month .

I have been using the Deka AGM batteries for several years now and have one that is 5+ years old and still works great. I recently changed from the ETX16L to the ETX15L and saved 6 pounds, it is a 190 CCA 14 AH at 11lb battery. This starts and performs great with no problems in a stock charging setup. If you are going to run total loss then choose the ETX 16L which is a 275 CCA 19 AH battery at 17lbs.

I have had really good luck with the gel batteries. They cost a little more up front, but they seem to hold their charges well over the winter and last for years (I just finished 6 seasons on one of them). The first one I got was from Deka, but Advance Auto Parts sells the exact battery under the Powersports brand--same mold and everything, just a different sticker. Both have worked great.
