Good luck getting a factory zero. I believe hot products is the only importer of these, and i've had one on order since oct 2005. Also, try 499.00 on for size

I built mine like C.
except in the front i have a receiver for a 2" ball so i can pull it around with my truck or fourwheeler. Might be an idea you want to add to your design. I really like it so far and the winch helps ALOT when you want to load it up by yourself. with two people you really dont need it though.

Thanks for all the replies so far.

It looks that C is quite popular here and it does look like the most universal cart. I'm leaning towards a hybrid of A & B with a bit of C thrown in.

Out of the material I have I think I could make a cart that will look like A with the bend in the rear like B (I think a bit of a ramp might come in handy). If I cut the 2 180 degree into 4 90's, I can use 2 90's in the front of the cart for a nice kick up to mount a handle and winch.
I would like to have the whole cart and ski to slide onto my trailer with the cart becoming the trailer bunks.
The trailers winch would be used to pull the whole deal onto the trailer.

Might be cool to pull up to the local riding spot, pull the cart and ski off of the trailer and head to the water. After a nice day of riding pull the ski onto the cart and than winch the cart and ski onto the trailer back at the parking lot............or not.

Picked up the rolling stock today (2 wheels, 1 axle and some pins) for $70 bringing the total investment to $90.

Yes they are steel wheels, that's all I could find locally.
If I find something better than these will go but until then I will just add more paint.

I needed the wheels to get this thing going otherwise I have to use a boat ramp. I hate boat ramps.

I wanted to bring this thread back from the dead to thank all those who replied and gave me a ton of useful info and ideas.

Thank You.

Even though I still have some things to sort out with the front of the cart (winch and a handle), I did get to use it yesterday for the first time.
It worked out better than I thought, it's stable as heck and rolls easy.
I was able to take the ski down to the water with one hand while I had my cooler in the other.
Everything fits on my trailer which I hope to build into "SCUBA" (Self Contained Uber Beach Apparatus).
No more wooden bunks or wet gear in the car.

I like how you incorporated the tote into the trailer for storage. I usually strap mine over ski or in bed of truck.

Maybe you could place a stubby 3/4" axle on each side of the trailer to cotter pin mount the 2 wheels. Or just weld a 20" long axle to a 2"x3" plate and u-bolt it in front of ski so you can stack wheels (vertically).

Sanford,

Since this is still "under construction" it isn't all there yet.
The tote wheels will go onto stubby axles on the trailer instead of the box.
Still haven't decided weather they will go in front or behind the trailers axle as I want to make some stands for my fuel jugs.

Now that I know that this tote is functional I will work on a slide system that would allow me to get rid of the wood all together (PVC pipe cut down length wise or rollers). I'm also toying with the idea of getting rid of the winch on the trailer.
Instead, I could mount it on the tote and use it to pull the ski onto the tote. Than the whole thing could be pulled up by running the winch strap to a hook point on the trailer.

There's still work to be done but so far all is good.

i dont think a winch is necessary for a standup in typical situations.

1' width on the bunks is ideal.

The winch is madatory in my opinion. I can EASILY load my ski up onto the dolly by myself. Hook the winch up to the bow, tilt the dolly up (I also have the BigFoot "C") and winch it right up. I can't imagine how you would load one by yourself on a dolly. Trailer I can see; lift bow onto trailer and then pick up stern and push it forward. A dolly won't allow that as it will tip.

With the BigFoot, once you have the ski on you pull up to the trailer, take off the winch part and slide the dolly under the trailer and then just push/pull the ski up onto the trailer bunks. It's a great system. If you ever have to recover your ski by yourself I think it is indespensible.
