We should start a support group, BAd Roll Form Anonymous, or BARFA for short.

I want to join too...

My name is Neil
I have bad roll form

My problem is this... I get sweet setup wakes and I can hit them well and get huge air. Then I get good rotation 1/2 way and then drop out of the sky like a rock... which usually results in some sort of pain. :banghead:. I am also usually nose-high from what I can tell... seems like I cant get the tail to whip up and around like it should. :dunno:

I keep trying what Glory keeps telling me "look back right and spot your landing while upside down" I think he is right and it will complete the rotation and make them much easier to ride out of, but I cant make myself look back right My brain wont let it happen.

it's a big step to spot your landing. I used to freeze and look at the nose of my ski and hope for the best. Its very freeing to have a moble head while upside down.

PLEEEEEZE tell me its not REV BOTTOM related:bigeyes:

dont worry its not the bottom.its mostly me!im having a hard time getting used to the new holds and my steering system is trashed.it has so much play in it that i feel drunk when riding.im gonna try to address that this week:rolleyes:

the bottom feels great!it handles awsome and begs to be ridden aggressive.its much harder to stuff the nose than on my old ski.i am a creature of habit though and still tend to feel more comfortable on it with a full tank of gas

I don't flat water roll.....but that form won't even get you all the way around in the surf. That's nose stab body position through and through. But you called yourself out on all the problems already. Now it's just a matter of fixing them.

I'd start with putting your face out over the nose....that will fix MOST of your bad body position in one fell swoop.

Hello,
My name is DJ. I am a BARFA member.

My roll form is so bad, that I need a four foot wave to get around. I am guessing that mine are similar to Darin's. (Broncos that are slower, heavier and off of big waves). With an SXR my bad form makes it impossible to get around off of my own wake. (lucky if I get half way).

I am thinking about tying my pole down with a big fat rope. I need to see some pics of geek's form. He rips em around.

I tend to want to roll left when attempting a flatwater roll and I roll right off of boat wakes.
When rolling behind a boat, my tail seemed to want to drop the last 20 degrees of my rotation. I think my weight is shifted back too far, and I'm not low enough.
When attempting flatwater rolls, I seem to make it half way around and just fall. My rotation seems too slow.
I think I need to try the hop method for more rotation speed.....need to work on the timing.
