whats the water temp that far south? still needs a wetsuit?

some days it was 70+ some days it was like 55deg...it just depends on how long it blew into the night..its super deep offshore so it upwells if its really windy...some days you would be in trunks some days a 3/2 ..it was weird

i wore a 2mm short arm or trunks but was cold sometimes... the guys i was with that wernt kiting were either wearing a 4/3 or a 3/2 full the whole time..you dont get as cold kiting

Cool pics Andrew, looks like you scored some good surf. The last few times I was there we got skunked. How were the flys? HA HA

Wow very cool I would love to surf and hangout in that area. Did you have any trouble with the local drug gangs and such, I have heard we should stay away from travel in that area?

whats the danger factor there now in that area?

probably not the safest place to be but we had no problems..kept a low profile..wouldnt want to be cruising around with a trailer full of skis in Tijuana or anything but we were out in the middle of nowhere also two of the dudes i went with have spent most of the last 5years living south of the border..the one guy drove from san diego to chile by himself which took 3years so they know the ropes down there and are fluent in espanol...but yea i think the razor sharp reef and stingrays are probably more dangerous than camping that far south

I used to go to Tijuana regularly, Rosarito, Pt. Nuevo and Ensenada. My Father in law has a condo by a place called "Playa Blanca"....great hang out place. I never ventured out farther south but I was thinking about it, with a surfing buddy of mine, to venture down to Baja for a week and do exactly what you did, surf, eat and sleep, when all of a sudden the Narco Violence broke loose and you started to hear about the kidnappings and beheadings and violence in general against tourists.....I haven't been back since....it has been 3 years.

That place you were at looks awesome....way to go man! :fing02:
Where exactly is that? What is the name of that area?

BTW: I am originally from Chile and I also speak fluent spanish. That trip your friend took must have been one hell of a trip Brother.....3 years! WOW! Imagine all the surf spots.....Costa Rica, Panama, Peru....Ayayayayay!
