B1 Jetmaniac 718 Bogging/Flameout

I bought a used 1996 Waveblaster with a Jetmaniac 718 and it runs great except for a bog at mid throttle every once in a while when I turn hard/spin out. The bog especially happens when I am blipping the throttle from low to mid throttle recovering from a spinout. It will also die on extended high throttle turns.

Jetmaniac 718
Dual carb
Factory B pipe, water is warm out of the pissers
MSD Enhancer

Ski was meticulously taken care of by the previous owner and the diaphragms were replaced a few hours ago. Like I said above, it rips normally, but every once in a while it will bog really bad and sometimes flameout. Is it something to do with the pipe or carb tuning. Or could water in the hull be splashing into the carbs?
Suggestions?

Four things come to mind. Is is a lean bog ? Or a rich choke down bog.
Pop off pressure too low will cause too much fuel in turns and rough operation
Pop off too hi will create the same issue running hi speed. ( you run it out of fuel)
A leaking or creased check valve in the carb kidney.
Air vent in your gas tank clogged or restricted.
Sometimes a dying pulse coil will do weird stuff like that.
Good luck chasing the gremlin

This post is from September, did you fix it?

Bump, having the same issue

Same issue but with a stock motor right? What have you checked so far?

Thanks for the reply "All Good", I will try these things out when we get a thaw in the great white north haha.

Hey Chris, My blaster has the following mods:
- Westcoast head
- TDR water box
- B-pipe
- Stock single 38mm carb. Which I would love to upgrade this season

I am at approx. 1700 feet elevation and I purchased the ski from a guy at sea level (this may be a jetting issue?)

When the ski is running it idles fine, and the low end throttle is good until I get to about 2/3rds to full throttle it hesitates slightly (almost like its got a slight cough)

I have tried to adjust the high speed screw all the way in and all the way out and it still does it so I believe I need a bigger high speed jet? I am pretty new at setting carbs so this is a guess from what I have read.

I also don't have a Pop-off tester (which I need to order Chris) and from what I have been reading they are a must have when setting up carbs.

Thanks guys!

I would worry that a single 38mm carb is no where near enough airflow for one of our ported motors.
